The Corinth Canal cuts through the Isthmus of Corinth, turning the Peloponnese into an island as it separates the region from the Greek mainland. Inaugurated in 1893, the canal is a little over six kilometres long and enables merchant vessels and passenger to avoid a long 400-km detour around the peninsula. The two sides of the canal reach a height of approximately fifty metres. From the exterior decks, don’t miss this unique opportunity to watch the ship as it navigates along the narrow strip of water encased between tall, ochre cliffs. What an experience!

The sanctuary is located on a plateau on the slope of Mount Parnassus, just ten kilometres from Itea. A listed UNESCO World Heritage site, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience whose ancient ruins are surrounded by steep mountains.

Inhabited since Antiquity, Otrante has today become a very pleasant seaside town. Yet its history is still visible as you meander through the little streets of its old centre. But it is also the gateway to the village of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Alberobello is famous worldwide for its traditional dry stone huts called trulli. These dwellings with whitewashed walls and conical, domed or pyramid-shaped roofs are built without any mortar, using a construction technique inherited from prehistoric times.

Beside these ruins, the architecture of the church of Saint Donat is Byzantine while the bell-tower of the Cathedral of Saint Anastasia is of Italian design. Your walks in the old town will be punctuated by diverse encounters with history. As you reach the shoreline, you’ll be brought back to modern day because this front is animated by two contemporary architectural creations. Maybe you will hear the sound of the “Sea Organ” music played by the surf and the “ Sun Salutations ” solar light installation reflecting its luminous rays.

Proud and eternal, Venice has reigned on its lagoon ever since the 6th century. You may think you know this city before even setting foot here. You will inevitably fall in love with the charm of the innumerable treasures of the Serenissima: Saint Mark’s square, the basilica, Doges palace, the Grand Canal and the gondolas. Yet, secret Venice is also waiting for you to explore its little interlacing streets and canals, to ramble through its squares and to push open the doors of its churches. The city’s extraordinary heritage shouldn’t stop you from enjoying a glass of Spritz and a few tramezzini.
Marvel at the beauty of the Byzantine monastery of Hosios Loukas and take to the heights in the streets of Arachova, a small town perched 1,000 metres (3,000 feet) up on the illustrious Mount Parnassus.
The fortified monastery of Hosios Loukas, near Delphi, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most characteristic monuments of the second golden age of Byzantine art. Founded at the start of the 10th century by the hermit Saint Luke, it includes a central-plan church decorated with superb marble decor and admirable mosaics on a gold background. The main shrine is none other than the tomb of Saint Luke, originally situated in the crypt.
Your excursion will continue with a visit of Arachova. Built on the side of the mountain, this small town of 3,300 inhabitants is famous for its traditional stone houses spread out over the northern slopes of Mount Parnassus, between 800 and 1,100 metres up. As you explore its small streets on your own, allow yourself to be charmed by the hospitality of the inhabitants, the local handicrafts and the gastronomy. Indeed, the town is well-known for its wine and cheese, as well as for its homemade carpets and blankets.

On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, the Delphi site opens the doors to a sacred world, where each stone summons up the glorious past of Ancient Greece.
Take the Sacred Way, the route walked in the past by pilgrims and kings of Antiquity, and go on a timeless journey. Here, the history of Greece and its legends overflow from everything: the ruins and ancient monuments, but also from the surrounding nature, which is still stunning.
This will jump out at you as you stand before the Temple of Apollo. It was constructed around the 7th century BC by two legendary architects, Trophonios and Agamedes; today, only a few vestiges remain of this Doric monument, decorated at the time with shields captured from the Persians. However, the foundations and columns that are still present seem to find an echo of their grandeur in the surrounding mountains.
The same goes for the ruins of the Senate of Delphi, as well as the vestiges of the Oracle of Delphi, where thousands of pilgrims gathered to receive the oracle of Pythia, high priestess of Apollo. The ancient theatre is also worth visiting.
A stone’s throw away from the sanctuary of Apollo, you will also be able to discover the Delphi Museum’s exhibitions, which present objects found at the archaeological site over the past century or more. Vases, bronzes, sculptures, precious offerings made to Apollo by pilgrims, objects of gold and ivory found under the slabs of the Sacred Way... they all recount the history of one of the most emblematic sites in Antiquity.

Set off to discover Arta, one of Greece's lesser-known gems, a mix of ancient history, captivating legends and Byzantine splendour. This excursion off the beaten track promises to leave you enchanted and in awe.
Arta will appear before you as you round a bend in a winding road through the hills. A “fortress” by name, the city built on the ancient site of Ambracia seems to be standing guard over time. This ancient Corinthian settlement was founded in the 7th century BC. Later, in 295 BC, it became the capital of Pyrrhus' kingdom.
Its stone bridge, a 17th-century masterpiece, is one of its symbols. According to the legend, whispered to anyone who will listen, its builder sacrificed his beloved on the advice of a mysterious bird, in order to anchor the foundations to the riverbed.
Your exploration of the city will continue at the Archaeological Museum of Arta, a treasure trove where each room tells a story. From funerary stelae and ancient tombs to objects discovered in the surrounding caves, this site reveals the secrets of a civilisation thousands of years old. Whispers of the past echo between the walls, transporting the imagination from the Bronze Age to the splendour of the Roman Empire.
But there is more to Arta than its ancient remains. Its Byzantine heritage shines through in the Church of the Parigoritissa, a 13th-century architectural masterpiece. The interior of this church crowned with towers and domes is adorned with frescoes over a hundred years old which you can discover during your visit. The walk will then take you through the bustling streets of the city. With its lively stalls, shops and cosy cafés, Arta's vibrant atmosphere invites you to stroll and chat with the locals, immersing yourself in the authentic spirit of Greece.
This excursion involves walking for one hour on flat and cobbled ground. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and sun protection. Appropriate clothing covering the shoulders and knees is required to enter religious sites.

Set off to discover Nicopolis, a thriving ancient city rich in Roman and Byzantine monuments, then visit the picturesque town of Preveza.
Founded by Emperor Augustus in 31 BC to celebrate his victory over Antony and Cleopatra, Nicopolis grew and prospered in Roman times, establishing itself as a major urban centre with a population of up to 300,000 in Christian times. Today, it is the most extensive archaeological site in Greece.
Immerse yourself in the history of this city and, as you admire the Roman and Byzantine mosaics, the theatre, the baths and aqueducts, the remains of ancient churches and much more, imagine the daily life of those who dreamed of building a great civilisation. For an even better sense of the splendour that once was, continue your adventure with a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Nicopolis, which houses collections of architectural pieces, sculptures and funerary offerings from this ancient city.
Then, take a short bus ride to Preveza. Stroll along its charming little port and through the narrow streets of the old town. Continue your walk to the Metropolitan Church of Saint Charalambos and the clock tower, a typical example of architecture from the time of Venetian rule.

In this legendary setting, you will hike along the river, with your feet in the water.
You will then dive a little deeper into Greek mythology and discover the striking beauty of the Gliki gorges during a rafting trip on the crystal-clear waters of the Acheron.

Stroll around Lecce, the “Baroque Florence”, and discover the countless churches, palaces and monuments carved out of this soft and almost golden limestone that gives the city a glowing look, like the chubby cherubins that decorate its façades.
A veritable open-air museum, Lecce is a microcosm of Baroque splendours. The cherubins, gargoyles, plant patterns, columns and capitals, each more extravagant than the last, are legion here - to the extent that the city lays claim to its own style, the “Barocco Leccese”. It has to be said that the sculptors and architects of the 16th and 17th centuries had a field day with the regional stone, a marvel of malleability and delicacy.
During a guided tour, discover its Roman heritage on the Piazza Sant’Oronzo, where the palazzos, church and Roman amphitheatre dating from the 2nd century try to outdo each other with their beauty. Then head off to explore the Centro Storico historic centre. Its cobbled streets and shady squares are teeming with incredible rococo treasures, including the Basilica of Santa Croce – with a constellation of sublime ornaments -that you will able to visit, and the Governor’s Palace whose façades you will admire.
A few metres away, the Piazza del Duomo, in spectacular golden monochrome, proudly displays a cathedral, its bell tower and the archbishop’s palace, making it one of Italy’s most beautiful squares. The exploration of the city centre ends with some free time to discover the city at your own pace, before getting back on the bus for Otranto.

Set off on an exceptional experience along the Puglia coast: an escapade in a boat through fascinating grottos, crystal-clear waters and landscapes that will take your breath away.
Beneath the dazzling sky of Southern Italy, allow yourselves to be guided towards Castro Marina, a small port nestling in the hollow of a coastline carved out by the sea. Here, every stone, every gust of wind wears the perfume of the Mediterranean. Aboard a boat, sail along the wild shorelines of Puglia. Nature will open its arms to you in this unique setting. Legendary cavities appear between golden cliffs and the azure-blue water. Their names carry a mythical echo: Azzurra, Zinzulusa, Palombara…
You will approach these marine sanctuaries in the softness of the open sea. The Azzurra Grotto, with its almost surreal sparkle, invites contemplation. Further on, Zinzulusa reveals its monumental, mysterious and captivating cave. If maritime conditions allow it, you will have the opportunity to swim and snorkel with a certified guide to discover the marine treasures of the Mediterranean.

Discover the sublime town of Alberobello and its history during a guided tour. The capital of the trulli — Puglia’s emblematic cone-shaped houses —, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Almost 1,400 trulli, stretching along two hills, have forged Alberobello’s reputation. As you stroll among the historic Monti and Aia Piccola districts, discover these uniquely charming small dwellings with their whitewashed walls and pointed roofs.
During your walk, keep an eye out for the enigmatic symbols and small pinnacles that adorn the roofs of the trulli; like a wink to another time, these will perhaps deliver the secrets of these buildings. As you reach the summit of Rione Monti hill, you will also be able to discover St. Anthony’s Church, built in the form of a trullo in 1926, and dive into the history of these small houses punctuating the landscape.
Alberobello is also renowned for its countryside scattered with trulli-shaped farms and very old olive trees. In a typical masseria (fortified farmhouse), you will be able to taste specialities such as Apulian focaccia served with locally produced wine. Then, back on the road in an air-conditioned coach, you will enjoy stunning views over the crystal-clear sea on one side and trulli on the other, an unforgettable experience on the way back to Bari.

At the crossroads of Ionian and Adriatic influences, discover the remarkable architectural heritage of Martina Franca, a jewel of the Itria Valley. Perched above a countryside dotted with trulli, lamie, and masserie, the town stands as a silent witness to a rich agricultural tradition.
Though traces of civilization date back to prehistoric times, Martina Franca truly came to life in the 10th century, when inhabitants of Taranto, fleeing pirate attacks, settled on Monte di San Martino. The town takes its name from Saint Martin of Tours, while the suffix "Franca" was added in the 14th century when Philip I of Anjou granted the town special privileges and perpetual state ownership.
The 18th century marked a golden age for Martina Franca, giving rise to a distinctive Baroque style, known as "Barocco Martinese." As you wander through its cobbled streets, shaded squares, grand churches, and elegant façades, you will experience a unique atmosphere where art is ever-present. This rich artistic legacy includes masterpieces by sculptors and painters of the Neapolitan school, who adorned the town’s churches and palaces with their exquisite works.

Perched atop a hill, the stunning Ostuni, known as the "White City," reveals its sunlit alleys and Baroque palaces, nestled within a labyrinth of whitewashed houses. From its heights, an endless sea of olive trees stretches across the Puglian countryside, offering a breathtaking panorama.
Founded by the Messapians, a pre-Roman tribe, legend has it that Ostuni was destroyed by Hannibal during the Punic Wars, only to be rebuilt on the hilltop, where today its magnificent cathedral stands. As you wander through the cobbled streets of the old town, you will encounter the remnants of the 14th-century medieval walls, punctuated by vaulted passageways, steep staircases, and charming homes climbing toward the city’s highest point, where the ancient castle once stood.
Following the circular path of the fortifications, let yourself be enchanted by typical whitewashed houses and tiny courtyards, now transformed into cozy cafés and souvenir shops. Enjoy some free time to sip a local cappuccino while soaking in the lively atmosphere of the alleys and panoramic terraces.
The tour continues into Ostuni’s countryside, where century-old masserie (traditional farms) and twisting olive groves define the landscape. Admire the massive, gnarled trunks of these ancient trees, standing as silent witnesses to time, and try to guess their age before tasting their precious olive oil, a product of generations-old craftsmanship.

After the short walk (15 minutes) from the port to the Old Town you will start with the walking portion of the tour.
The Old Town of Split is built on and around the spectacular Roman Palace erected by the Roman Emperor Diocletian (born in Salona - todays Solin) in the 4th century. The walking tour starts with a visit of the Palace on the ground gallery that is still very well preserved. It offers a good view at how the life in the Palace was organised.
You will also visit the very interesting Cathedral of St. Duje (patron saint of the city). According to medieval sources, Archbishop John of Ravenna purified in 650 the mausoleum of Diocletian by getting rid of its idols and founded the Cathedral whose bell tower is now the symbol of Split.
The Cathedral is built on the remains of an ancient shrine and is supposed to be the oldest in the world. A visit will also be made to the charming Temple of Jupiter, turned into the baptistery by Christians. Observe the front panel or the ceiling with grotesque faces. Cross the Palace of the southern gate to the North door and discover the ramparts and the immense "statue of Gregory of Nin" by the Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic.
After the walking tour you will head back to the ship. If you wish to spend some time on your own, you can visit the colourful open market (largest on the coast) or spend some time in the town before returning to the ship.
