Your cruise aboard Le Jacques Cartier will begin in Auckland. This New Zealand city bordered by two seas will surprise you with its modernity and its cosmopolitan atmosphere.
On Waiheke Island, opposite Auckland, you will be enchanted not only by the authentic villages nestled at the heart of vineyards but also by the attractive coastline that forms heavenly beaches.
Soon, Tauranga will welcome you and open the doors to the many treasures of Rotorua: volcanoes, hot springs, geysers, rivers and gorges, and lakes ranging in colour from deep blue to bright orange.
Following the warm and translucent waters of the South Pacific Ocean, Le Jacques-Cartier will sail towards Gisborne. The first city on Earth to see the sun rise each day, it is distinguished by its enchanting environment of sandy strips and subtropical forest. Here you will learn about Māori culture and local history and will be invited to taste some of the products of this rich farming region, renowned in particular for its chardonnay.
On the east coast of North Island, Napier unfolds before you, revealing its treasures in a unique architectural style where the sleek lines of Art Deco buildings mingle with traditional Māori patterns.
Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, is the next stop on your journey. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the Māori people during a visit to the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
Next, during an unforgettable sailing experience you will explore the Malborough Sounds, an extensive network of submerged valleys creating a maze of hilly islands and peninsulas.
After a stop in Picton, it is now time to sail to Akaroa. In this bay formed by an old, flooded volcano crater, the unique mix of the Māori, French and European cultures offers a different experience.

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest, most populated and busiest city. Located on an isthmus linking the peninsula of Northland to the expansive North Island, it seems to float between land and sea. It is one of the few cities in the world to have two separate harbours : Manukau Harbour on the Tasman Sea and Waitemata Harbour on the Pacific Ocean. You will understand why Auckland is known as "the City of Sails" when you see the forest of masts in the marina. The 328 metre-high Sky Tower offers splendid views of the city. Gisborne, called “Gizzy” by the locals and Teoneroa by the Maori, is located to the north of a large bay surrounded by fertile hills and long, wild beaches that attract walkers and surfers. At the southern end of the bay, the magnificent cliffs of Young Nick’s Head majestically keep watch over the ocean’s tides. In Ngatapa, a few kilometres north of the city, the Eastwoodhill Arboretum stretches out over more than 130 hectares (320 acres) and is home to magnificent exotic and native plants. In the city, you can learn about Maori culture and the local history at the Tairawhiti Museum or enjoy some of the products of this rich farming region, renowned in particular for its Chardonnay.

Located at the tip of a peninsula on the east coast of New Zealand's South Island, Akaroa is a popular resort destination, nestled in a cove formed by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago. In the mid-19th century, French and British settlers competed for control of the area, and the architecture of the present-day town reflects these colonial influences in the galleries, craft shops, and cafés that line its streets. But what draws most people to this remote area is the abundant wildlife. Hector dolphins (the world's smallest), Blue Penguins, fur seals, and Orcas populate the waters of the harbor, and the cliffs that surround the bay are nesting sites for thousands of birds.

On the eastern coast of New Zealand’s South Island, Lyttelton (or Te Whaka Raupo in the Maori language) served, thanks to its proximity with Ross Island, as the starting point for the British expeditions in the mythical age of the South Pole explorations. It takes its name from George Lyttelton (1709-1773), aristocrat and colonial governor of South Carolina. In this colourful port town full of history, you’ll be able to discover the Time Ball: constructed in 1876, it rang at 1.00 pm every day for 58 consecutive years to give Greenwich meridian time, enabling ship captains to set their chronometer and very precisely calculate their position.

Departing Tauranga, travel to Rotorua to visit Te Puia, the home of the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. Start your experience by doing He Taonga Tuku Iho trail. An opportunity to experience more, gain a deeper understanding of the knowledge handed down from our ancestors. We explore trails in the geothermal valley that lead to natural cooking pools and sample food cooked exactly how our tipuna would have used them. Experience the mauri (life-force) of this geothermal environment from the perspective of the people that have adapted to it over many generations.
The minimum duration of He Taonga Tuku Iho Trail is 2 hours.

The rich soil and the unique climate of the Bay of Plenty do not only give the world kiwi fruits of unparalleled quality; they also provide, in a secret spot, exceptional truffles, more precisely on the land of Maureen and Colin Binns, who love this mythical mushroom. This experience will begin with an excursion inland, towards the peaceful hamlet of Paengaroa.
Maureen and Colin will open the doors of their welcoming home to you, for an immersion in the art of this mythical cultivation. Embark on a unique experience discovering a traditional New Zealand dairy farm. This will be an opportunity to learn about this major New Zealand industry, find out more about production techniques and enjoy tasting certain products made on site.
The New Zealand dairy industry is one of the country’s economic pillars. Renowned for the quality of its milk, New Zealand is one of the world’s largest exporters of dairy products, in particular milk, cheese and butter. On the scenic drive to the Rock Spring dairy farm, you will be captivated by the sumptuous landscapes of the pastures, where sheep, horses, cattle and cows roam. On arrival at Rock Spring, you will learn about the history of the New Zealand dairy industry before discovering the farm’s production process. You will then head to the neighbouring farm, the Red Barn. Here, you will take a butter-making lesson before you taste the fruit of your labour in a convivial setting.

Journey by rail back in time with a ride on the sole surviving WA-Class steam locomotive in New Zealand. Wa165 is the only remaining Wa class train which was built in Hillside workshops in 1,897in Dunedin.
The station is a short distance from the pier. Climb aboard and take your seat in one of the four restored, heritage carriages for a memorable 45-minute steam train ride down the scenic Poverty Bay coastline to Muriwai. Built in 1897 in the Dunedin railway workshops, WA 165 was brought to Gisborne in 1910 to work the steep sections of railway to the north. It worked on that line until 1942, before being turned into the star attraction in a children's playground until 1986. Finally, this beautiful piece of equipment was fully restored by the local vintage railway enthusiasts.
Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and an informative commentary during your train ride.
At Muriwai, the steam train will turn around for the return to Gisborne. While waiting, you will be entertained by a lively Maori cultural performance by local school children, featuring the actions songs and dances of the local iwi (tribe).

This scenic tour involves very little walking; however, participants must be physically able to climb three very steep stairs to board the train. The train carriages are vintage and not air-conditioned. Due to a limited number of railcars, each seat may be occupied. Not all seats are forward facing. The train follows the same tracks in both directions, if you have a forward-facing seat on the way out you will be sitting backward facing on the way back. There are outside platforms from where you can take photos.

Just a short drive away, and yet worlds apart from Gisborne city life, explore Waipura Station, a sprawling 2,100 acre (849 hectare) working sheep and beef farm in a rural setting.
From the pier, board your coach and travel to an idyllic destination to experience the lives of a fourth-generation farming family. Your hosts, Graham, Anne, Caroline and Jo welcome you warmly before taking you for a farm visit. They are keen to answer any of your questions as they orient you to this lush, hilly property and show you around the 110-year-old homestead built from native New Zealand timber and surrounded by beautiful gardens.
An up-close encounter at the woolshed is an opportunity to observe a sheep shearing demonstration. Observe the remarkable dexterity and speed with which the shearers expertly and painlessly remove the long woolly coats of the animal. Sheep farming is a lead industry in this region and here you will learn the fascinating journey from sheep to bale and beyond. Then, it is on to the paddock to observe the shepherd muster a mob of sheep on horseback with their trusty farm dog assistants aiding in this process. Note how the highly trained "eye" dog doesn't bark but instead stares at the sheep to make them do exactly what he and the shepherd want.
Then, your hosts graciously invite you to a classic Kiwi home-baked smoko, a mid-morning break and light meal served to sheep shearers in New Zealand to tide them over between breakfast and lunch.
At the conclusion of the day, bid a fond farewell to your new friends and relax on your drive back to Gisborne. If time permits, you will have the option of disembarking in the city centre to explore on your own before returning to the ship independently, or stay on the coach and return to port.

Stingray experience
Today, you will experience an interactive reef tour that immerses you in the dynamic marine ecosystem that surrounds the waters of New Zealand's East Coast. You will explore Tatapouri Bay, home to stingrays (whai), eagle rays and other reef dwellers, on this fascinating and educational tour.
From the pier, you will board your coach and travel north along the Pacific Coast highway to your coastal destination, Tatapouri Bay, enjoying views of Wainui Beach along the way. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted warmly and outfitted in waders (high-waisted waterproof pants). Then, your guide will take you to the water to explore Tatapouri Bay’s fascinating reef at low tide.
You will follow your guide to the nearby rocky reef shelf, where you will meet the stingrays. Keep a keen eye out for short-tail stingrays, eagle rays, octopus, conger eels, yellowtail kingfish and more. You will be amazed at the grace and gentleness of these wild sting rays and eagle rays swimming in their natural environment. The experience is perfectly safe;
Learn about the rich marine life in this area as well. It has been harvested by the local Maori people for many hundreds of years. At the completion of the day, light refreshments are served, and the naturalist will stay to speak with you further about the environment and about the Maori people and their settlements along the coastline.

This tour involves walking on uneven surfaces, sand and into the water (shallow water, up to mid-thigh). We recommend you wear comfortable, light clothes and water shoes and protect yourself from the sun. Bring a towel and bottled water. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed although very common. Walking at the beach and into the water you may encounter uneven surfaces. You will be in shallow water, up to your waist for most guests, for the encounter. Approximately 250 metres (273 yards) of leisurely walking is required. Guests must be 6 years of age to participate.

Cape Kidnappers & gannets
Begin your excursion with a drive down Napier’s beautiful Marine Parade with its stand of tall Norfolk pines. Continue along the Hawke’s Bay coast to Cape Kidnappers Station. From there, the unpaved road crosses rolling pastures, riverbeds and gullies. You will stop just a few yards from the gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers, affording a close-up look at the birds. The gannet is a member of the booby family, and is easily recognised by its distinctive black eye markings and pale gold crown. The birds arrive here at the colony in the latter part of July, and their chicks hatch in late November and December. Migration begins again in March. You will see gannets swooping and diving into the sea for food, while others preen themselves or perform the ritual dance of recognition.
Cape Kidnappers is one of only two known mainland gannet colonies in the world.
Following your gannet-watching experience, on the way back to the farm, you will enjoy light refreshments.

This tour involves very little walking over uneven and gravel path. The Cape Kidnappers Gannet Reserve is managed by the Department of Conservation for the purpose of protecting the gannet nesting sites. The 32-acres (13 ha) reserve includes the Saddle and Black Reef gannet colonies. Both are closed to public access. All revenue generated goes into the management and protection of the Gannet colonies. Access is undertaken by commercial tourism operators licensed by the Department of Conservation. This tour is limited to 40 participants.

Hawke's Bay is renowned for its wine region, and the production of red wine. With its dry, sunny climate, the bay is ideal for growing grapes. The number of wineries in the region continues to grow, and touring the vineyards by electric bike is a must.
You will leave the dock in your vehicle for a short ride to the starting point of the cycling tour. During the ride, your driver will provide commentary on Napier's fascinating Art Deco history.
On your arrival, your guide/instructor will give you all the safety information you need for your bike ride. Once they have explained how to use the controller, gears and brakes, you can start pedaling. You will follow the coastline, on a walking and cycling trail, and enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, the picturesque coastline and Hawke's Bay. You will pass through wetlands and rural farm roads. You will also pass through the estuary, the local fishing port, before arriving at the Department of Conservation Nature Reserve. You will hike the reserve's trails through the Ahuriri wetlands and observe the many native birds and farm animals (sheep) that inhabit the area.
Your first stop will be at a renowned vineyard for a wine tasting accompanied by a sampling of local produce.
Then, it's back on to the outskirts of Taradale. You will pedal along urban paths to your second well-deserved gastronomic stop, at a second estate. The trails will take you straight to the cellar door of one of Hawke's Bay's finest wineries for a wine tasting and a platter of seasonal local produce. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to make photo stops and enjoy the scenery that the Hawke's Bay area has to offer.
After the tastings, it's time to leave this fantastic area and head back to Napier, to return your equipment to the bike centre.
Finally, you will get back in your vehicle with your guide, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have before returning to the dock and your ship.

Napier, the Art Deco city
This tour will introduce you to the history of Napier, the Art Deco capital of the world.
You will board your coach, accompanied by your guide, for a scenic one-hour drive past some of Napier's most famous and iconic Art Deco buildings.
Your guide, a specialist from the Art Deco Trust, will provide insightful commentary on Napier's history and distinctive architecture. You will see the National Tobacco Company Building, one of Napier's most photographed Art Deco buildings.
Then, you will drive through the residential suburb of Marewa to see some of the best-preserved Art Deco houses and their immaculate gardens.
You will finish the bus tour at the Art Deco Trust Building. Panoramic Hawkes Bay
Discover Napier and its surroudings on this panoramic bus tour.
You will learn how Napier became known as the Art Deco City after being rebuilt in the early 1930s following a major earthquake. The new buildings reflected the style of the time: stripped-back classical, Spanish Revival, Art Deco, and some even incorporated unique Maori motifs.
Then, you will follow Napier's waterfront along Marine Parade as your guide recounts the city's history and anecdotes, including tales of the devastating 1931 earthquake.
Next, you will pass the Sunken Gardens, the National Aquarium, the Spirit of Napier and art deco buildings.

From the ship, you will climb aboard your air-conditioned van at the pier and set out on a three and a half-hour adventure that will take you only 12 miles (20 km) out of Wellington but will feel like in another world.
After winding your way through the city streets and past Parliament buildings, enjoy a scenic view over the city and the harbour from Tinakori Hill. You will travel over farmland with fabulous views of Cook Strait and the South Island in the distance (weather permitting).

Meet your guide at the Picton cruise ship shuttle drop-off point.
From here, you will walk along Picton's waterfront. Your guide will tell you about the rich local history and its place in New Zealand's history.
You will then stroll around the marina, among the fishing boats, pleasure craft and tourist boats, over the Coathanger Bridge and along a walking trail through the native bush (approximately 10 minute walk on a steady incline).
Your guide will tell you all about the history of Picton and the Marlborough Sounds, and the local flora and fauna, as you walk.
You will then return along the marina to Picton's waterfront. There, you will enjoy, in a typicala bar, an espresso, tea or a typical New Zealand treat, hokey pokey ice cream, before setting off to explore the rest of Picton on your own.

The walk takes about 5-10 minutes for someone in average physical condition. The slope then undulates for about 15 minutes before descending and returning along the marina. Embark on a self-guided expedition into Queen Charlotte Sound aboard a sea kayak.
You will meet your guide at the dock and embark on a short trip to Ngakuta Bay. Here, your guide/instructor will provide you with all the necessary safety information before your launch. Together with your local guide and a naturalist, you will embark on a peaceful journey, gliding effortlessly along the southern shore of the inlet. From here, you will enjoy panoramic views of Grove.
You will then, cross a verdant landscape covered in New Zealand bush and dotted with unspoilt beaches, while your guide gives you a wealth of information about the surrounding ecosystem.
Weather permitting, you will cross the calm waters of the bay to reach the north side.

Omaka Aviation and the flavours of Marlborough
The Marlborough region, one of New Zealand's sunniest, has a lot to offer.
You will meet your guide on the pier and embark on a half-hour drive south to Blenheim, Marlborough's largest town. Blenheim lies at one end of the Marlborough Wine Route.
Your first destination will be to the historic Omaka Airfield, home to the Omaka Heritage Aviation Centre. The Centre boasts one of the world's largest private collections of World War I aircraft, including such rarities as the Caproni CA 22, Fokker DR.1 and De Havilland D.H.4. Dioramas and special effects bring the First World War era of aerial combat to life. Memorabilia includes items belonging to Germany's Red Baron, ace fighter Manfred von Richthofen. The evolution of flight and the stories of the men and women who flew these magnificent machines come to life in two separate exhibitions. Knights of the Sky, the World War I exhibition, features a vast collection of rare aircraft and memorabilia belonging to film director Sir Peter Jackson.
The second exhibition, Dangerous Skies, focuses on the Second World War and uses the same storytelling techniques made famous by film industry legends WingNut Films and Weta Workshop. Iconic aircraft, such as the Spitfire and Mosquito, take centre stage, as does the thought-provoking Stalingrad experience.
Then, it's back on to the bus for a short trip to the Moa Brewery. Moa beer was created by local winemaker Josh Scott, a member of the famous Alan Scott Winery family. The name Moa (New Zealand's giant extinct dinosaur bird) also comes from the region, as in the early days Josh would hand-deliver beers to archaeologists working on a Moa bone near the brewery. Moa beer is brewed using traditional methods, with an emphasis on local ingredients. It is complemented by winemaking techniques such as bottle aging and fermentation. At the end of your visit, you will enjoy a tasting of Moa's beers.
Your last stop will be to Makana Confections. This confectionery store has attracted worldwide attention for its classic chocolate truffles and macadamia nut bonbons. You will visit the store to see these handmade truffles and other confections and you will even have the opportunity to taste these famous chocolates.

During this excursion you will discover all its secrets and flavours and understand why it's so popular and widely recognised.
You will meet your guide on the pier and board your bus for a short trip to the first vineyard.
You will discover three wineries and, through various tastings, familiarise yourself with the lively acidity and heady aromas of this beverage, which is hard to resist and even harder to forget. For many wine lovers, Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc was their introduction to wine. Its style seduced them and made them realise what was in their glass. The Marlborough region is also very different today from what it was in the 1980s. A flight to Blenheim, the region's main town, reveals just how much wine has reshaped this part of the world. Aerial views of the long, straight Wairau Valley, where most of the grapes are planted, reveal miles and miles of plains covered with neat rows of vines.
Very little land remains to be farmed in the region's two main valleys, the Wairau and Awatere. Marlborough produces over 25 varieties of wine, including sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay and Riesling. During the tastings, you can drink the wines or, more commonly, use a spittoon to spit them out.
Afterwards, you will visit a local chocolate maker, where you can sample some of their specialties.

Marine life observation cruise
From the pier in Akaroa, you will embark on a luxury boat for a 2-hour scenic tour in the Banks Peninsula, formed by three massive volcanic eruptions. A large Marine Mammal sanctuary surrounds much of the peninsula, with the aim to protect the Hector’s dolphin, the smallest of all dolphin species.
During the cruise in the deep blue waters, your guide will tell you about its fascinating geological history along with its rich marine life. You may see native fur seals and the playful Hector’s dolphin, which enjoy riding the bow waves of the launch.

Day 2 - Auckland
Auckland is set on 52 dormant volcanic cones and between two harbours, the sparkling Waitemata and the brooding Manukau. Known as the City of Sails, it is New Zealand’s largest and busiest city.
You will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Auckland starting with the Tamaki Drive coastal road that runs along the Sir Michael Savage Memorial Park. You will hear the History of one of New Zealand's most notable Prime Ministers, and you will enjoy the views over the harbour to Rangitoto Island.
After a short free time in Parnell Village to do some shopping, you will pass by the Trinity Cathedral and onto the Domain, a 75-hectare park that is home to the War Memorial Museum and beautiful winter gardens. You will have a guided tour of this museum, which has one of the best collections of Maori and Polynesian artefacts in the country, and you will watch a Maori cultural performance.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant.
You will then head to the Sky Tower of Auckland to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city. The Sky Tower is a 328-metre tall telecommunications and observation tower, and it has become one of the New Zealand's most recognisable landmarks.

Day 2 – Mount Aspiring National Park
After breakfast, you will head to the Mount Aspiring National Park, which is around a 2-hour drive away. Named after Mount Aspiring, one of New Zealand's highest peaks, this park is a dreamland of mountains, glaciers, river valleys and alpine lakes. After an extremely picturesque journey, you will go on a 1-hour walk through valleys and forest to the blue pools, which are deep, crystal clear and flow into the Makarora River. You will enjoy this moment of tranquillity!
After a 90-minute drive, you will take a tour and have lunch in an artisan distillery. You will discover the secrets to artisan spirits and see where the malt is milled, mashed, fermented, distilled, and matured before you embark on a tutored tasting.

Day 3 – Te Anau

After a 2-hour drive, you will experience a mysterious underground world of rushing water before drifting in darkness beneath the luminous shimmer of hundreds of glowworms !
Your trip will begin with a cruise to the western shores of Lake Te Anau. This underground world is astonishingly beautiful. The caves are 12,000 years old and they are still being carved out by the force of the river that flows through them. The result is a twisting network of limestone passages filled with sculpted rock, whirlpools and a roaring underground waterfall.
Deep inside the caves, you will be taken on a small boat into a silent hidden grotto inhabited by thousands of glowworms, unique to New Zealand. In the subterranean darkness, they produce a glittering display that is nothing short of extraordinary.

After lunch, you will take on a beautiful road trip through the backroads for a quintessential Kiwi experience. Dive into the high country, where you will see fabulous scenery and big landscapes everywhere you look.
You will then see a demonstration of sheep shearing and dog handling at a local and welcoming farm. Sheep farming is a significant industry in New Zealand; it was established by the 1850s and has played an important role in the country’s economy ever since. For several decades, wool accounted for more than a third of New Zealand's exports by value.
After a scrumptious barbecue dinner at the homestead, you will cross the Wakatipu Lake aboard the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw, the oldest passenger-carrying steamship in the Southern Hemisphere. What a blissful way to appreciate the magnificent alpine scenery!

After a 30-minute drive, you will stop in Arrowtown, an historic goldmining town, which still looks the way it did over 100 years ago, when Chinese goldminers settled in the area. Journey by rail back in time with a ride on the sole surviving WA-Class steam locomotive in New Zealand. Wa165 is the only remaining Wa class train which was built in Hillside workshops in 1,897in Dunedin.
The station is a short distance from the pier. Climb aboard and take your seat in one of the four restored, heritage carriages for a memorable 45-minute steam train ride down the scenic Poverty Bay coastline to Muriwai. Built in 1897 in the Dunedin railway workshops, WA 165 was brought to Gisborne in 1910 to work the steep sections of railway to the north. It worked on that line until 1942, before being turned into the star attraction in a children's playground until 1986. Finally, this beautiful piece of equipment was fully restored by the local vintage railway enthusiasts.
Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and an informative commentary during your train ride.
At Muriwai, the steam train will turn around for the return to Gisborne. While waiting, you will be entertained by a lively Maori cultural performance by local school children, featuring the actions songs and dances of the local iwi (tribe).

The train carriages are vintage and not air-conditioned. Due to a limited number of railcars, each seat may be occupied. Not all seats are forward facing. Your hosts, Graham, Anne, Caroline and Jo welcome you warmly before taking you for a farm visit. They are keen to answer any of your questions as they orient you to this lush, hilly property and show you around the 110-year-old homestead built from native New Zealand timber and surrounded by beautiful gardens.
An up-close encounter at the woolshed is an opportunity to observe a sheep shearing demonstration. Observe the remarkable dexterity and speed with which the shearers expertly and painlessly remove the long woolly coats of the animal. Sheep farming is a lead industry in this region and here you will learn the fascinating journey from sheep to bale and beyond. Then, it is on to the paddock to observe the shepherd muster a mob of sheep on horseback with their trusty farm dog assistants aiding in this process. Note how the highly trained "eye" dog doesn't bark but instead stares at the sheep to make them do exactly what he and the shepherd want.
Then, your hosts graciously invite you to a classic Kiwi home-baked smoko, a mid-morning break and light meal served to sheep shearers in New Zealand to tide them over between breakfast and lunch.

Stingray experience
Today, you will experience an interactive reef tour that immerses you in the dynamic marine ecosystem that surrounds the waters of New Zealand's East Coast. You will explore Tatapouri Bay, home to stingrays (whai), eagle rays and other reef dwellers, on this fascinating and educational tour.
From the pier, you will board your coach and travel north along the Pacific Coast highway to your coastal destination, Tatapouri Bay, enjoying views of Wainui Beach along the way. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted warmly and outfitted in waders (high-waisted waterproof pants). Then, your guide will take you to the water to explore Tatapouri Bay’s fascinating reef at low tide.

Cape Kidnappers & gannets
Begin your excursion with a drive down Napier’s beautiful Marine Parade with its stand of tall Norfolk pines. Continue along the Hawke’s Bay coast to Cape Kidnappers Station. From there, the unpaved road crosses rolling pastures, riverbeds and gullies. You will stop just a few yards from the gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers, affording a close-up look at the birds. The gannet is a member of the booby family, and is easily recognised by its distinctive black eye markings and pale gold crown. The birds arrive here at the colony in the latter part of July, and their chicks hatch in late November and December. Migration begins again in March. You will see gannets swooping and diving into the sea for food, while others preen themselves or perform the ritual dance of recognition.
Cape Kidnappers is one of only two known mainland gannet colonies in the world.
Following your gannet-watching experience, on the way back to the farm, you will enjoy light refreshments.

Hawke's Bay is renowned for its wine region, and the production of red wine. With its dry, sunny climate, the bay is ideal for growing grapes. The number of wineries in the region continues to grow, and touring the vineyards by electric bike is a must.
You will leave the dock in your vehicle for a short ride to the starting point of the cycling tour. During the ride, your driver will provide commentary on Napier's fascinating Art Deco history.
On your arrival, your guide/instructor will give you all the safety information you need for your bike ride. Once they have explained how to use the controller, gears and brakes, you can start pedaling. You will follow the coastline, on a walking and cycling trail, and enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, the picturesque coastline and Hawke's Bay. You will pass through wetlands and rural farm roads. You will also pass through the estuary, the local fishing port, before arriving at the Department of Conservation Nature Reserve. You will hike the reserve's trails through the Ahuriri wetlands and observe the many native birds and farm animals (sheep) that inhabit the area.
Your first stop will be at a renowned vineyard for a wine tasting accompanied by a sampling of local produce.
Then, it's back on to the outskirts of Taradale. You will pedal along urban paths to your second well-deserved gastronomic stop, at a second estate. The trails will take you straight to the cellar door of one of Hawke's Bay's finest wineries for a wine tasting and a platter of seasonal local produce. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to make photo stops and enjoy the scenery that the Hawke's Bay area has to offer.
After the tastings, it's time to leave this fantastic area and head back to Napier, to return your equipment to the bike centre.

This tour will introduce you to the history of Napier, the Art Deco capital of the world.
You will board your coach, accompanied by your guide, for a scenic one-hour drive past some of Napier's most famous and iconic Art Deco buildings.
Your guide, a specialist from the Art Deco Trust, will provide insightful commentary on Napier's history and distinctive architecture. You will see the National Tobacco Company Building, one of Napier's most photographed Art Deco buildings.
Then, you will drive through the residential suburb of Marewa to see some of the best-preserved Art Deco houses and their immaculate gardens.
You will finish the bus tour at the Art Deco Trust Building. Panoramic Hawkes Bay
Discover Napier and its surroudings on this panoramic bus tour.
You will learn how Napier became known as the Art Deco City after being rebuilt in the early 1930s following a major earthquake. The new buildings reflected the style of the time: stripped-back classical, Spanish Revival, Art Deco, and some even incorporated unique Maori motifs.
Then, you will follow Napier's waterfront along Marine Parade as your guide recounts the city's history and anecdotes, including tales of the devastating 1931 earthquake.
Next, you will pass the Sunken Gardens, the National Aquarium, the Spirit of Napier and art deco buildings.
You will continue your drive through Napier's suburbs for views of the city and Hawke's Bay, including the Marewa district, known for its many "deco" houses and beautiful gardens.

From the ship, you will climb aboard your air-conditioned van at the pier and set out on a three and a half-hour adventure that will take you only 12 miles (20 km) out of Wellington but will feel like in another world.
After winding your way through the city streets and past Parliament buildings, enjoy a scenic view over the city and the harbour from Tinakori Hill. You will travel over farmland with fabulous views of Cook Strait and the South Island in the distance (weather permitting).
You will see along the way the Terawhiti Farm, one of the North Island's largest farms, with over over 3,000 wild goats, that has been in the same family since 1850. Learn about the fascinating history of the area and its connections to Wellington.

Meet your guide at the Picton cruise ship shuttle drop-off point.
From here, you will walk along Picton's waterfront. Your guide will tell you about the rich local history and its place in New Zealand's history.
You will then stroll around the marina, among the fishing boats, pleasure craft and tourist boats, over the Coathanger Bridge and along a walking trail through the native bush (approximately 10 minute walk on a steady incline).
Your guide will tell you all about the history of Picton and the Marlborough Sounds, and the local flora and fauna, as you walk.
You will then return along the marina to Picton's waterfront. There, you will enjoy, in a typicala bar, an espresso, tea or a typical New Zealand treat, hokey pokey ice cream, before setting off to explore the rest of Picton on your own.

This tour includes a 3 km walk on uneven surfaces. There is a relatively steep, but short, incline at the start of the loop trail. The walk takes about 5-10 minutes for someone in average physical condition. The slope then undulates for about 15 minutes before descending and returning along the marina. Passengers need to be in good physical condition to enjoy this walk, as it takes place on an unmade path with some steep inclines. Good walking shoes, comfortable clothing, a hat, sunglasses and sun protection are strongly recommended.

Embark on a self-guided expedition into Queen Charlotte Sound aboard a sea kayak.
You will meet your guide at the dock and embark on a short trip to Ngakuta Bay. Here, your guide/instructor will provide you with all the necessary safety information before your launch. Together with your local guide and a naturalist, you will embark on a peaceful journey, gliding effortlessly along the southern shore of the inlet. From here, you will enjoy panoramic views of Grove.
You will then, cross a verdant landscape covered in New Zealand bush and dotted with unspoilt beaches, while your guide gives you a wealth of information about the surrounding ecosystem.
Weather permitting, you will cross the calm waters of the bay to reach the north side.
Here, you will explore the inlet's deepest bays, lined with dense foliage and offering endless rugged panoramas. Omaka Aviation and the flavours of Marlborough
The Marlborough region, one of New Zealand's sunniest, has a lot to offer.
You will meet your guide on the pier and embark on a half-hour drive south to Blenheim, Marlborough's largest town. Blenheim lies at one end of the Marlborough Wine Route.
Your first destination will be to the historic Omaka Airfield, home to the Omaka Heritage Aviation Centre. The Centre boasts one of the world's largest private collections of World War I aircraft, including such rarities as the Caproni CA 22, Fokker DR.1 and De Havilland D.H.4. Dioramas and special effects bring the First World War era of aerial combat to life. Memorabilia includes items belonging to Germany's Red Baron, ace fighter Manfred von Richthofen. The evolution of flight and the stories of the men and women who flew these magnificent machines come to life in two separate exhibitions. Knights of the Sky, the World War I exhibition, features a vast collection of rare aircraft and memorabilia belonging to film director Sir Peter Jackson.
The second exhibition, Dangerous Skies, focuses on the Second World War and uses the same storytelling techniques made famous by film industry legends WingNut Films and Weta Workshop. Iconic aircraft, such as the Spitfire and Mosquito, take centre stage, as does the thought-provoking Stalingrad experience.
Then, it's back on to the bus for a short trip to the Moa Brewery. Moa beer was created by local winemaker Josh Scott, a member of the famous Alan Scott Winery family. The name Moa (New Zealand's giant extinct dinosaur bird) also comes from the region, as in the early days Josh would hand-deliver beers to archaeologists working on a Moa bone near the brewery. Moa beer is brewed using traditional methods, with an emphasis on local ingredients. It is complemented by winemaking techniques such as bottle aging and fermentation. At the end of your visit, you will enjoy a tasting of Moa's beers.
Your last stop will be to Makana Confections. This confectionery store has attracted worldwide attention for its classic chocolate truffles and macadamia nut bonbons. You will visit the store to see these handmade truffles and other confections and you will even have the opportunity to taste these famous chocolates.
Finally, you will board your bus to return to the quay and your ship.

During this excursion you will discover all its secrets and flavours and understand why it's so popular and widely recognised.
You will meet your guide on the pier and board your bus for a short trip to the first vineyard.
You will discover three wineries and, through various tastings, familiarise yourself with the lively acidity and heady aromas of this beverage, which is hard to resist and even harder to forget. For many wine lovers, Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc was their introduction to wine. Its style seduced them and made them realise what was in their glass. The Marlborough region is also very different today from what it was in the 1980s. A flight to Blenheim, the region's main town, reveals just how much wine has reshaped this part of the world. Aerial views of the long, straight Wairau Valley, where most of the grapes are planted, reveal miles and miles of plains covered with neat rows of vines.
Very little land remains to be farmed in the region's two main valleys, the Wairau and Awatere. Marlborough produces over 25 varieties of wine, including sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay and Riesling. During the tastings, you can drink the wines or, more commonly, use a spittoon to spit them out.
Afterwards, you will visit a local chocolate maker, where you can sample some of their specialties.

Marine life observation cruise
From the pier in Akaroa, you will embark on a luxury boat for a 2-hour scenic tour in the Banks Peninsula, formed by three massive volcanic eruptions. A large Marine Mammal sanctuary surrounds much of the peninsula, with the aim to protect the Hector’s dolphin, the smallest of all dolphin species.
During the cruise in the deep blue waters, your guide will tell you about its fascinating geological history along with its rich marine life. You may see native fur seals and the playful Hector’s dolphin, which enjoy riding the bow waves of the launch.

Day 1 - Lyttelton/Mount Cook

You will travel through the beautiful Governors Bay, which will take you around the coast for dramatic views. You will then make your way through the Rakaia Gorge, which offers spectacular views over the surrounding mountains, green fields and fabulous crystal-clear blue colour of the river.
You will discover Lake Tekapo, known for its incredible blue water, which contrasts beautifully with the surrounding mountains and the lupin flowers. The lake gets its intense milky-turquoise colour from the fine rock-flour (ground by glaciers) which is suspended in the water. On the edge of the lake, you will see the Church of the Good Shepherd, built as a memorial to the pioneers of Mackenzie Country. It is one of the most photographed sites in the country thanks to its backdrop of exquisite turquoise waters and the Southern Alps. You will also stop by the Mackenzie Sheepdog statue, which serves as a tribute to the dogs used by Scottish shepherds during the 19th century. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of snow-capped mountains in the Southern Alps and learn why these dogs were so pivotal in the history and settlement of the Mackenzie Basin.
Lunch will be served in a private home, with the national speciality, Pavlova, for dessert.
You will then continue past Lake Pukaki, which is an impressive 70 metres deep, and even more blue than its neighbour Lake Tekapo, to your hotel.

Day 2 – Mount Cook

After a short transfer, you will explore the Tasman Glacier Lake in Mount Cook National Park and soak up the ever-changing glacial landscape.
The Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park is home to the highest mountains, covered in snow and ice all year round, and the longest glaciers. It is alpine in the purest sense - with sky-scraping peaks, glaciers and permanent snow fields, all set beneath a star-studded sky.
After a 25-minute scenic walk, you will enjoy a glacial boat tour on the milky blue Tasman Lake.
At around 27 km long, the Tasman Glacier is the longest glacier in New Zealand and a relatively recent addition, having started its formation in 1974. Boats will journey across the Tasman Lake where you can view the glacier’s ice face from a safe distance, whilst weaving in and out of icebergs of all sizes.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
You will then enjoy a 1-hour walking tour near Mount Cook Village and discover a spectacular view of Mount Cook.
You will return to your hotel and will be free for the rest of the day. Your guide will be happy to recommend things to see in the area, like the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre, located in the hotel, where you will discover the colourful transport, climbing and hermitage history of Aoraki/Mount Cook.
After dining at the hotel, you will head into the heart of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, world-renowned for its lack of light pollution, which creates a spectacular and immense night sky brimming with stars. You will connect with a stargazing experience and marvel at the spectacular Southern stars, while enjoying a hot chocolate.

Day 3 – Geraldine / Christchurch
