PONANT EXPLORATIONS & WHOI Partnership
A Joint Project
PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution launch new Polar Ocean Image Collection, as well as next-generation research technology on select ships.
The Polar Ocean Image Collection
Created through the partnership between PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in collaboration with The Ocean Agency, the Polar Ocean Image Collection expands the Ocean Image Bank with more than 500 images captured across Antarctica and the Arctic.
Next-Generation Technologies

Antarctica: Ocean (Re)Imagined - with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
This Antarctica voyage is designed in collaboration with scientists from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), the world’s leading ocean science non-profit organization, as a living expression of its scientific work. PONANT and WHOI invite guests to experience the Southern Ocean—a dynamic system shaping global climate, circulation, and life on Earth—as researchers do. Science unfolds in real time through briefings, deck-based observation, and conversation shaped by conditions, curiosity,
Unlike other partnerships, the WHOI collaboration is designed to be a living, evolving platform for science education, impact, and discovery. Guests are not only travelers but active contributors to ocean science. Every element reinforces our mission to transform curiosity into stewardship.
WHOI’s partnership includes demonstrations, and delving into other science initiatives through interactive guest programming —far beyond traditional lectures.
Additional WHOI expeditions, research projects, technology testing and educational programs will be announced in the coming months, continuing to unite exploration, research and responsible travel.
