Sébastien Bertrand

With a passion for great historical figures, epic tales, and mythological worlds—spanning from Europe to the Far East—Sébastien Bertrand became a teacher and lecturer to share, exchange, and pass on knowledge.
 
After earning the agrégation in history and a doctorate in contemporary history, he has taught in European-section classes, served as a university lecturer, and acted as an advisor to the Interministerial Mission for the Centenary of the First World War. Since 2013, he has been a professor of history, geography, and geopolitics of the contemporary world in Preparatory Classes for the Grandes Écoles (CPGE) at the Cité scolaire Janson de Sailly (Paris, 16th arrondissement), where he is also class teacher of a Chinese international section class.
 
He regularly contributes to historical works, journals, and textbooks for several publishers (PUF, Nathan, Ellipses).
As a researcher and lecturer for various institutes, associations, and YouTube channels, he works both in France and abroad (particularly in Germany, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan).
He particularly enjoys tracing the lives of prominent figures in European and Asian history, from Japanese Emperor Hirohito to Finnish Marshal Mannerheim, South Korean President Park Chung-hee to German Kaiser Wilhelm II, and China’s First Lady Madame Chiang Kai-shek to Queen Elizabeth II.
 
Since 2022, his collaboration with Ponant has taken him to the Mediterranean, the Baltic, the China Sea, and the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
