Historian
Ralph DeFalco
Dr. Ralph L. DeFalco III is a historian, writer, lecturer, and a retired national security intelligence professional whose career spanned five decades and five continents.
Retired in the rank of Captain after a 25-year career in the United Staes Navy, he later served as a civilian intelligence professional on the Pentagon staff of the Director of Naval Intelligence. During his military career he served with the U.S. European Command intelligence center for four years. During those years was the lead analyst for the production of the Baltic Nations Handbook used to support the BALTOPS NATO exercises. Ralph is a graduate and former faculty member of the National Intelligence University and the College of Naval Command and Staff of the U.S. Naval War College, where he served as Fleet Professor. He earned his doctoral degree at Georgetown University.
Ralph has studied and published widely on topics ranging from military history and geopolitics to foreign affairs and applied ethics. He is a contributing author to the two-volume work, The Central Intelligence Agency: An Encyclopedia of Covert Ops, Intelligence Gathering, and Spies. His numerous essays, articles, reviews, and commentaries have appeared in Naval Institute Proceedings, Naval History Magazine, International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, The Epoch Times, RealClear Defense, The National Strategy Forum Review, and H-net. His most recent work is available online at Law & Liberty. His first novel, The Counterfeit, was released by Lost Coast Press in Spring, 2026.
