Soprano
Born in Venice, Italian Mezzo-Soprano Miriam Albano studied singing with Stella Silva at her home town Conservatory, and violin for 8 years. She then moved to Vienna to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts with her voice coach Claudia Visca.
In 2022 and 2023, Miriam will have performed in the Mozart/Da Ponte Trilogy as Cherubino and Despina with the complicity of Marc Minkowski at Liceu Barcelona, Bordeaux Opera and Versailles Royal Opera.
She had been a member of the Vienna State Opera Ensemble where she made her debuts as Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro and as Annio in La Clemenza di Tito.
Miriam was Cherubino at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma in a new production conducted by Stefano Montanari and staged by Graham Vick, and appeared as Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Marc Minkowski and Laurent Pelly at the Opéra National de Bordeaux, a role she reprised for the Rome Opera in a Stefano Montanari/Lorenzo Mariani production.
She has given solo recitals, of which she is particularly fond, at the Doge’s Palace in Venice and Beethoven Center in Vienna. Miriam Albano performed a Lieder recital at the invitation of KS Brigitte Fassbaender at the Eppaner Liedsommer and a Schubert Songs programme alongside KS Robert Holl at the International Lied Festival Zeist in the Netherlands. She made her debut at the Tonhalle Zurich with a Manuel de Falla recital conducted by Alondra de la Parra.
Recent and future engagements include Melanto (Monteverdi, Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria) in Florence under Ottavio Dantone, Rosina (Rossini, Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at Teatro Regio Torino, and Annio (Mozart, La Clemenza di Tito) at Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon.
