Dr. Joshua Voss is a coral reef ecologist, experienced expedition leader, Research Professor, and the Director of Collegiate Education at Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. His primary research interests include shallow and mesophotic coral reef ecology, coral health and disease, marine molecular ecology, and marine conservation and management. With an outstanding team of graduate students and collaborators, he works to discover, understand, and protect coral reef ecosystems.

A certified advanced trimix rebreather diver and scuba instructor, Dr. Voss has completed over 2000 scientific dives and led more than 50 oceanographic expeditions. He is the Co-Director of FAU’s Marine Science Program and has served as the Executive Director of NOAA’s Cooperative Institute for Ocean Exploration, Research, and Technology, as Chair of the Harbor Branch Faculty, and serves on several state and federal agency advisory boards. 

Dr. Voss lives in Fort Pierce, FL with his wife, a high school experiential learning coordinator and instructor with a background in both marine and molecular agrobiology.  Together with their two adventurous and ocean-loving daughters, the family shares a love of travel, hiking, camping, snowboarding, diving, and sailing.
