Dr. James Baer is an Emeritus Professor of History at Northern Virginia Community College.  His undergraduate degree is from Oberlin College, and his doctorate was awarded by Rutgers University.  Dr. Baer has received several awards.  Among them, a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship for College Teachers.  He was also chosen as the Virginia Commonwealth Professor.

Dr. Baer has published four books and many articles, focusing on Spain and Latin America.  His study of immigrant links between Spain and Argentina has been cited widely.
