At just 14 years old, Emmanuel Rossfelder became the youngest guitarist admitted to Alexandre Lagoya’s class at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique. A special relationship soon developed between the master and his student, nurtured by teaching based on a unique right-hand technique, developed by Lagoya alongside Ida Presti. Emmanuel earned two First Prizes unanimously, in guitar and chamber music.

“Emmanuel offers the guitar a powerful sound, virtuosity, emotion, and a fantasy that already make him a great artist.”
— Alexandre Lagoya

At 20, he won the First Prize of the FMAJI as well as the special Pierre Salvi award. Honors quickly followed: laureate of the Groupe Banque Populaire Foundation (1998), “Découverte Classica” (2001), “Révélation Classique” from ADAMI (2002), and then “Victoire de la Musique Classique” in 2004 in the category of Instrumental Solo Revelation.

Since then, Emmanuel Rossfelder has explored all the riches of the guitar on major French and international stages, in recitals, tours, and masterclasses, from Japan to Brazil, the United States to Africa. He also performs as a soloist with prestigious orchestras — the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Orchestra of France, the Marseille and Avignon Operas, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Tuscany Orchestra, the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, the Baltic Chamber Orchestra — under the direction of conductors such as Roberto Benzi, Arie Van Beek, and Charles Ansbacher.

His discography reflects his eclecticism: after recording the major concertos of Joaquín Rodrigo and a wide selection of solo guitar repertoire, he created Carnets de voyage, an album of original transcriptions featuring the Modigliani Quartet, soprano Raquel Camarinha, and bandoneonist Víctor Villena. More recently, he released Home, a return to essentials gathering twenty pieces that marked his musical journey, from Chopin to Schumann, from Sor to Ponce, including lullabies and two world premieres by Christophe Julien and José Pavli.

Alongside his international career, Emmanuel Rossfelder shares his passion as a professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
