Cellist
Christian-Pierre La Marca is a regular guest on renowned world stages from Paris to Berlin, London, Vienna, Salzburg, Amsterdam, Venice and Moscow. He has been on the receiving end of awards at International Competitions in Osaka, Frankfurt and London, and been a guest at France’s Victoires de la Musique several times.
He performs with prestigious orchestras all over the world, and is highly sought after to accompany illustrious musicians as diverse as Itzhak Perlman, Renaud Capuçon, the late Didier Lockwood, Michel Portal and Thierry Escaich, to name a few.
He has a special affinity with pianist Lise de la Salle, with whom he gives many concerts, and as a lover of opera has also performed alongside names like Philippe Jaroussky, Roberto Alagna, Bernarda Fink and Julie Fuchs.
A Sony Classical Artist, his discography is very inventive and has won him numerous awards (Diapason d’Or, Choc de Classica, Grammophone, Strad, RTL d’Or…).
Together with his brother, he is artistic director of the Festival du Forez described as “one of the 12 festivals which really count in France” by magazine Télérama. He is also a professor who teaches cello master classes at the Philippe Jaroussky Academy in La Seine Musicale. And finally, he is the man behind the “Concert for the Planet” initiative, organised with the Good Planet Foundation and Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
He plays a rare Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume (1856) cello, using a highly-valued Jacob Eury (1825) bow loaned to him by the Fondation de la Vocation.
