Gunung Leuser National Park is located approximately 90 kilometres north east of Belawan and is home to the Bukit Lawang Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Nestled in the Barisan mountain range, it is part of the UNESCO world heritage listed Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra, billed as the largest wilderness area in South-East Asia. Today guests will have a long but rewarding day. Leaving the port at Sunrise guests will drive inland to Gunung Leuser National Park and visit the conservation project site at Bukit Lawang. There will be an opportunity to take a guided walk through the dense forest for the chance to spot other wildlife.
