From Lisbon to London, PONANT invites you on an unforgettable cruise along the Portuguese, Spanish, French and British Atlantic coastlines. A 15-day circuit filled with discoveries aboard Le Bellot.
Throughout your journey, you will benefit from an excursion included per person per port of call, to choose from a selection offered by PONANT. During this cruise, explore the Santiago de Compostela site from Vigo, visit the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao or discover the aptly-named Belle-Île-en-Mer from Quiberon. After boarding in Lisbon, you make a port of call in Leixões, before heading on to Porto. The capital of the northern region, this 'city of granite' is not only known for its wine, but also for its remarkable historic town centre, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Your journey continue to Galicia and the city of Vigo, the biggest fishing port in Spain. Not far from here, Santiago de Compostela awaits you. This unmissable pilgrimage destination is home to a number of monuments from the Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque periods, testimony to its illustrious past. Le Bellot then heads for the capital of the Spanish Basque Country, Bilbao. Between daring architecture and the continuation of its ancestral traditions, you can witness the city’s unique energy.
Your ship sets sail for Bordeaux, the wine capital of the world, then Royan, a seaside resort located at the mouth of the Gironde estuary, before moving up towards the Breton coasts in Quiberon, the embarkation port for Belle-Île-en-Mer, Houat and Hoëdic. You sail around the tip of the Finistère and reach Roscoff, a former city of corsairs that is labelled a “Small Town with Character”. During your stop in Saint-Malo, a town famous for the legendary Route du Rhum yacht race, lose yourself in the diversity of its heritage, stroll along its rampart and fall under the charm of the city of privateers.
Le Bellot crosses the English Channel and drop anchor at the spellbinding Channel Island of Guernsey, marked by the long exile of Victor Hugo. Then, you make your way to Dartmouth, a charming town tucked away in the heart of the stunning décor formed by the mouth of the Dart. You discover its old pastel-coloured fishermen’s houses and some half-timbered buildings.
Your journey comes to an end in London, the cosmopolitan capital of the United Kingdom, rich with historical heritage and exceptional avant-garde art.

Portugal’s capital city located on the banks of the Tagus, only a few kilometres from the Atlantic coast, is a city of exceptionally rich cultural diversity. At the mouth of the river harbour, impose two UNESCO World Heritage monuments, Jeronimos monastery and Belem tower. The Alfama hillside is also worth visiting: known for its fado bars and its Moorish streets, this district is the oldest one of the city and one of the most typical. Not far from there, Chiado’s elegant streets are home to big fashion labels and are an invitation to a bit of of luxury shopping.

Located at the mouth of the Douro River, the port of Leixões lies less than 10 kilometres from Porto. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the historic centre of Porto is worth a visit for its famous Ribeira district, the metallic silhouette of the Dom-Luis bridge looming over its ancient houses, its richly decorated Baroque churches and its national Soares dos Reis museum. The São Bento station is also interesting for its typically Portuguese decoration, using Azulejos, blue square ceramic tiles decorated with geometric patterns or figurative scenes.

Nestling on the Atlantic coast, in the south of Galicia, the former fishing port of Vigo is now the region’s largest municipality. Its old town, more commonly known as O Berbés, will unveil its many historical monuments and the unusual architectural style of its homes. Off the coast, the Cíes Islands, declared a Nature Reserve and located in the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park, offer truly splendid landscapes and exceptional biodiversity. Bilbao, capital of the Spanish Basque country, is one of the most avant-garde cities in Europe. Its architectural audacity as well as its ancient built heritage will take you on a journey between traditions and innovations. An unusual cable car will allow you to reach the magnificent Guggenheim Museum, a unique construction of stone, glass and titanium, designed by the architect Frank Gehry and home to a collection of modern art and contemporary monumental sculpture. You will sail past the Cordouan lighthouse. Lying 7 km from the coast, it marks the entrance to the Gironde estuary, formed from the confluence of the Garonne and the Dordogne rivers, where the tumultuous waters combine with the Atlantic Ocean. Built by the architect Louis de Foix in honour of the kings Henri III and Henri IV, “the lighthouse of kings” was opened in 1611. Raised and restored at the end of the 18th century, Cordouan now stands 68 metres tall. Listed as an historic monument in 1862, this masterpiece of marine architecture is the oldest French lighthouse still in activity. In 1823, it was fitted with the first Fresnel lens, named after its inventor, while over the years its lighting system was electrified then computerised.

Port Haliguen, a ten-minute walk from Quiberon, is a marina that has retained all its charms of yesteryear.

Once a city of corsairs, the port of Roscoff is now a popular seaside resort proud to have been labelled a “Small Town with Character”. From its tumultuous and fascinating past, Roscoff has preserved an exceptional architectural heritage from the 16th and 17th centuries. Its historic centre is brimming with relics from the past: the magnificent granite mansions of shipowners, the Notre-Dame-de-Croaz-Batz gothic church, and the Old Port, once the stronghold of smugglers and merchants. The town is also known for its foreshore, which boasts a rich algal biodiversity. Its study, beginning in 1872, led to the creation of the first European research and teaching centre in marine biology and oceanography, the Station Biologique de Roscoff.

Guernsey is an atypical and unforgettable port of call. This Channel Island will delight you with its mild, iodic climate and its green and floral landscapes. Don’t be surprised to come across dolmens and menhirs here and there, testifying to the long history of the island and its rich heritage. The attractive capital of St. Peter Port is characteristic of the delightful British atmosphere that gives the island its charm. The memory of the great writer Victor Hugo is also very present, as he lived for fifteen years in exile in Guernsey. His home, Hauteville House, preserves his memory. The incredible richness of the decoration gives a clear illustration of the creative genius of this great man.

Stretching more than 150 km, the “Pearl of Dorset” is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its geological interest. Aboard your ship, admire the site’s spectacular white chalk cliffs, home to many sea birds. The scenery, constantly changing with the light, and the different creeks and beaches situated at the feet of these gigantic rock formations, will give you the opportunity to take superb photos. Perhaps you will also be able to glimpse Durdle Door, this natural arch carved out of the rock by erosion.

From Hyde Park to the City through Westminster and Trafalgar Square, get ready to take on London's frenetic tempo. In between a visit to the National Gallery, a stroll through Covent Garden and a trip to Tower Bridge, you can take a quiet breather in one of London's many beautiful parks and gardens.
Porto city tour & wine tasting
From the pier, board your coach and start your 30-minute scenic drive to Porto.
Upon arrival, you will visit the Francis Church which is the most prominent Gothic monument in Porto and is also noted for its outstanding Baroque inner decoration.
You will continue your walk to the riverside, also known as the Ribeira one of Port’s landmarks, you will enjoy free time for shopping and stroll around this area.
You will then be driven to the Taylor’s wine cellar. Taylor’s is the archetypal Port house and it wines the quintessential Ports. Established over three centuries ago in 1692, Taylor’s is one of the oldest of the founding Port houses. It is dedicated entirely to the production of Port wine and in particular to its finest styles. Above all, Taylor’s is regarded as the benchmark for Vintage Port.

From the pier, you will board your coach and drive to Santiago de Compostela (a one-hour and fifteen-minute drive), one of the most important cities in Europe and the third most important place in the world for Christian pilgrimage.
Your tour will start by the Obradoiro Square where your guide will present you all the details of this square during a walking tour. You can admire the Cathedral, the Town hall, the Pazo (Palace of Saint Jerome) and the Hostal dos Reis Católicos. This former hospital was built in 1501 by orders of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile to welcome unwell pilgrims and replace the old hospital which was then on the current Plaza de la Azabachería. Today it continues to fulfil its function of hosting service to the traveller, although it has a luxurious character. Every day, a dozen pilgrims carrying their compostela (pilgrim certificate) are allowed in the kitchen to graciously receive a meal.
Your guide will give you a complete description of the outside of the Cathedral and will show you the Jubilee Door which is only opened for the pardons of each Jubilee Year.
Then, you will have some time at leisure to walk along the historical streets before meeting your guide at the Hostal dos Reis Católicos, for the lunch served in one of the dining rooms of the hotel.

From the pier, you will board your coach and start your scenic drive towards Monte Castro. Once arriving, you will enjoy a panoramic view on Vigo, its bay and its harbour.
Jules Verne wrote that Captain Nemo’s best kept secret was in Vigo. Did you know that this is where the Nautilus submarine came to stock up on gold? In Vigo’s estuary there are dozens of sunken ships loaded with the gold from the Americas, treasures that have not yet come to light.
Back to coach, you will drive to Baiona, one of the most important and characteristic fishing villages on the Galicia coast.
Here you will visit Parador Monterreal, an imposing 16th-century building that has been converted into a hotel. The fortress of Monterreal is highly evocative of times long past, with its walls (dating from the 11th to 17th centuries) and its mediaeval towers: the Reloxo, the Tenaza and the Príncipe Cativo. The walls are ideal for a pleasant stroll around the area, known as the Monte Boi Promenade, offering perfect views over the whole of Galicia’s southern coastline, and of course the town of Baiona.
Then, you will discover old centre of the village with the remains of its ancient walls. A walk through the historic centre reveals impressive pazos (manor houses), such as that of the Correa family (from the 18th century), now the town hall with a tall tower, coats of arms and beautiful balconies; the Casa Ceta (or Casa do Perdón) from the 14th century; the Casa Mendoza (or Casa do Deán) with arched walkways beneath (from the 18th century) and a superb Baroque façade, or the Casa de Salgado (from the 17th century).
Finally, re-board your coach and start your return drive to Vigo, a 45-minute drive.

From the pier, you will board your coach and drive to your starting point of your hiking on the way of cross, 45-minute drive.
You will walk on the Spanish part of the way of cross borrowed by the pilgrims, to this day, to join Santiago de Compostela.

From the pier, you will board your coach and start your 1-hour drive to Villagarcia.
Once arriving, you will visit the Pazo de Rubianes. Located in the Arousa estuary (Pontevedra), it is one of the three official lordships in Spain. The main building was constructed in the 15th century. In the 18th century the tower was pulled down, and a summer residence with rectangular plan was created. The gardens, with more than 11 hectares, have remarkable eucalyptus trees with perimeters of 12 meters, olives and magnolias. It has geometrical flowerbeds of French style, with sequoias and camphors. Its grandiose magnolias Magnolia grandiflora L. have been included in the Galician Monumental Tree Catalogue.
With an area of 25 hectares, the vineyard of Pazo de Rubianes is the largest in the region of Salnés. Don Gonzalo Ozores of Urcola - eighteenth Lord of the House of Rubianes and Marqués de Aranda- and his wife, Mrs. Paloma Rey Fernández Latorre, were responsible for the recovery of ancient vineyards and the new vineyard project that took place between the years 1997 and 1999. Don Gonzalo, great lover of his estate, had a great devotion for his vineyards and planned to produce wine on the property again. But he could not fulfil his dream before his death in 2006. His wife, Mrs. Paloma, picked up the baton in order to realise the desire of her husband. In 2009, ten years after the recovery of the vineyards, the first wine of this new winery of Pazo de Rubianes was bottled. Built in the 15th century, the cellar smells now like wine again, and allows to preserve the quality of each vintage. Only slightly less than 30 % of the grapes produced in the vineyards of Pazo de Rubianes are chosen to give rise to these exclusive wines with which each year comes the new crop of Pazo de Rubianes and García Caamaño wines.

From the pier, board your coach and proceed to the famous Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Gehry.
This imposing and unmistakable titanium, granite and glass building reflected in the river houses important works of contemporary art. Designed by American architect Frank Gehry, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao building represents a magnificent example of the most groundbreaking 20th-century architecture. With 24,000 m2, of which 11,000 are dedicated to exhibition space, the museum represents an architectural landmark of audacious configuration and innovating design, providing a seductive backdrop for the art exhibited in it. Altogether, Gehry's design creates a spectacular sculpture-like structure, perfectly integrated within Bilbao's urban pattern and its surrounding area. It was built between 1993 and 1997 representing the recovery of the banks of the river, redeveloping them for culture and leisure. The finish of the approximately 33,000 extremely thin titanium sheets provides a rough and organic effect, adding to the material's colour changes depending on the weather and light conditions. The other two materials used in the building, limestone and glass, harmonise perfectly, achieving an architectural design with a great visual impact that has now become a real icon of the city throughout the world.
Your tour will continue with a stroll around the old town with its handsome Renaissance, Baroque and Modernist buildings, where you will have the chance to admire the façade of the Cathedral of Santiago, example of Gothic architecture, and the elegant Plaza Nueva, with its distinctive porticoes.

Discover the Cantabrian corniche, the fishing port of Bermeo and historic Guernica. From the pier, travel along the colorful Biscayan coastline and see the dramatic views of the Cantabrian corniche.
You will first visit Guernica, once the capital of the Basque Country. The local lords and kings met here in democratic assembly to promise to respect the special laws of Vizcaya. On 26th April 1937, during the Spanish Civil War, the town was razed to the ground by German aircraft, sent by Hitler to support Franco's troops. Discover the Picasso’s Guernika mural reproduction, illustrating the bombing and showing the tragedy of war.
During your visit, see also the petrified trunk of an oak tree that miraculously survived the horrific bombing raid. In the Park of Europe are the famous sculptures, symbolising Gernika-Lumo as a city of peace. See from outside the Casa de Juntas, where the Basque parliament has convened since 1979.

From the pier, board your local coach, drive West of Bordeaux and cross the Landes de Gascogne forest before arriving in the Arcachon Bay region, a resort famous for its weather and oyster culture. A fragrant oasis surrounded by an immense forest of pine trees; a subdued ocean which nestles up against the wild sand-dunes; a long wreath of fine golden sand. This is Arcachon Bay with clean waters constantly renewed by the tide, and flights of thousand of migratory birds.
Here you will stop in Le Pyla to climb the highest sand dune in Europe with 110 metres height. A wooden stairs allows an easier climbing of the first half. Following a customized tour of the estate, you will visit the owners' private cellar, taste the estate's first wine, both white and red, and the young vines in red.
Today, you will be invited to a special confidential wine tasting at Pessac-Léognan Classified Great Growth Château Smith Haut Lafitte estate. This great growth owes its reputation as "the quintessential Graves" to its superb Günz gravel terroir in a single block. The estate's history dates back to the Crusades. The Scottish navigator Georges Smith acquired the château in the 18th century and Monsieur Duffour-Dubergier, a Mayor of Bordeaux from a famous family of traders, was a subsequent owner.
Since its purchase by Florence and Daniel Cathiard in 1990, Smith Haut Lafitte has become one of the leading lights of Bordeaux thanks to its elegant, powerful red and white wines. In twenty years, the owners have not only brought the wine of Smith Haut Lafitte up to the very highest level, but also restored the château's 16th century tower, completely renovated two underground cellars, built their own cooperage, and introduced such organic methods as horse-drawn ploughing, home-made compost and the use of plant extracts.

Saint Emilion village & Château Soutard
There can be no better place to start a visit to this attractive region than UNESCO World Heritage Classified Saint Emilion region and village, heartland of the Merlot grape, which produces delicious, rich, round wines.
The vines on the "hill with a thousand châteaux", reach right up to Saint Emilion's 13th century town walls and surrounding moat dug out of solid rock. Members of the local wine brotherhood, the Jurats, proclaim the vintage banns in much the same way as their ancestors did during the reign of Richard the Lion heart.
You will visit the main monuments of the town: the Collegial church and its magnificent cloister from the 12th century, the ramparts (12th), the marketplace. Strolling in the streets, you will also see the Cadene gate and the King's Tower. You will then have some time at leisure for shopping.

The island of Oléron has an area of 175 sq km, making it the largest of the French islands on the Atlantic coast. It has been a popular holiday destination with the development of thalassotherapy on the island during the second half of the 19th Century.
From the pier, board your local coach and drive to Oléron Island, enjoying views of the Charente coastline and its wetland marshes. While crossing Oléron bridge, enjoy a panoramic view of the Citadel of Château d’Oléron, a Vauban military fortification. Then, drive along the “Oyster Road” situated between Le Château d’Oléron and Boyardville.
This small coastal road, signposted “Route des Huîtres", winds between channels, colourful oyster huts and "claires”. Visit the oyster farming site of Fort Royer and enjoy a local seafood tasting, as well as other various sweet products. The Fort Royer nature site and oyster farm on the south coast of Boyardville stretches over a zone of 10 hectares, and it’s notable for its flora, wildlife and the beauty of its landscapes, especially the extraordinary views over the Ile d’Aix and the Charente straits. A living example of traditional oyster culture, the site includes a village of around 40 huts, a third of which are still in use.
After a short transfer, enjoy some free time to explore La Cotinière on your own, as it is one of the prettiest fishing ports of the Atlantic Coast. La Cotinière is the 11th largest French fishing port and the largest in Charente Maritime. Allow yourself to be tempted by a captivating walk in the calm and peaceful Morbihan, with the discovery of the village of Saint-Cado, a small islet full of charm at the heart of the Etel River, also known as the Ria d’Etel.
The island, which is only accessible on foot and connected by a bridge, will reveal itself along the peaceful waters of the Ria d’Etel. A unique atmosphere reigns on this small piece of land, which has around twenty fishermen’s houses and a magnificent 12th-century Romanesque chapel. There is a path you can walk all the way around the island, taking in sublime points of view over the river and the Breton landscapes. Above all, you will be able to admire one of the reasons behind Saint-Cado’s renown: the famous little house with the blue shutters. Standing as if it were placed on the water, this residence, only accessible by foot at low tide, is a delight for photographers and painters.

From the pier, board your local coach for a 1-hour drive to Plouézoc’h and its famous Barnenez cairn.
Upon arrival, follow your guide for a fascinating visit of the spectacular site of Barnenez cairn overlooking the sea. Built in the Neolithic period (4500 to 3500 BC), the tumulus (man-made earth mound) has been rediscovered in 1955 when it was used as a quarry. From 1955 to 1968 exavation and consolidation work was carried out and this enormous mound of stones regained its original appearance. André Marlaux described the megalithic monument as the “Breton Parthenon”. At 230 feet long and 82 feet wide at it western side, its size is astonishing.
Then, reboard your local coach for a short drive to Morlaix, a little town nestling in the hollow of a spectacular estuary among the foot-hills of the “Monts d'Arrée”. Enjoy a guided visit of the town and stroll around the "venelles" (little streets). Morlaix is is the only place to host the so-called ‘maisons à pondalez’ (overhanging houses), nestling among the other historic buildings. Constructed in the 16th century by linen merchants, these houses were built on three storeys around a monumental fireplace, a winding central staircase and wooden indoor walkways named ‘ponts d’allée’ – a derivation of the Breton term ‘pondalez’. Their half-timbered, overlapping storeys tower over the narrow streets leading off Place Allende, guiding you through the Breton Renaissance.

From the pier, embark you local coach for your scenic drive to Saint Vougay.
Upon arrival, follow your guide for a visit of Kerjean Castle, one of the finest Renaissance buildings in Brittany. Built in the second part of the 16th century, the castle also has a park covering a total area of around 25 acres, completed with a Renaissance fountain and dovecote. Pass the impressive ramparts of the castle, enter the main courtyard and enjoy views of the beautiful abode, the chapel and the castle arches. The volutes, pilasters and small columns on the facade of the structure highlight this castle’s original style, inspired by famous Renaissance models.
Following your journey back to Renaissance times, discover the castle’s collection of locally-made furniture, recalling in an accurate manner, the way of living of one of the "wildest area" of Brittany. Depart from pier and enjoy a walking guided visit of Saint-Malo leading to the Asfeld Hotel.
As you stroll around the quaint narrow streets, your knowledgeable guide points out sites of historical interest. View the castle, part of the ramparts protecting the town, the town's typical streets, the house of Duchess Ann, and the cathedral. Also, get acquainted with the more famous personalities of Saint-Malo, such as Jacques Cartier, Duguay-Trouin, Surcouf, and the well-known romantic writer Chateaubriand. Enter the Asfeld Hotel for a visit of this former Privateer's house, followed by a cider tasting. This Manor house has been built by François-Auguste Magon de La Lande, privateer and merchant. He was one of the most powerful ship-owner in the heyday of Saint-Malo and a director of the French East Indies Company. Built in 1725, the house is listed as a Historic Monument (interior and exterior) so as to protect its authenticity and guarantee that the restoration respects historical accuracy.

From the pier, board your coach and start your 30-minute drive to Cancale.
Picturesque fishing village, Cancale is renowned for its “bancs d’huîtres” (oyster’s beds). The gardeners of the sea work from the parks to the farms thousands of oysters up to the time they are ready to please the gourmet.
En-route, you will discover an oyster farm. During your guided visit of the “Ferme Marine”, you will learn more about the work of the oyster farmer and the workshop (tanks, washing, conditioning). Normally, you will have the opportunity to see the farmer during her/his working day.
Following your visit, you will enjoy an oyster tasting accompanied with a glass of wine.
Then, you will drive to Cancale fishing port to enjoy a walking guided tour along “La Houle” and historical seamen neighborhood before having some free time to explore by yourself.
After, your tour will continue to La Pointe du Grouin nature reserve. At the Northern end of the department, in the commune of Cancale, the “Pointe du Grouin” houses the most important coastal bird nesting site of Ille-et-Vilaine.

From the pier, board your local coach and join directly the Mont Saint Michel which “is to the ocean what the Pyramid of Cheops is to the desert” as Victor Hugo put it.
Upon arrival, your guide will give you a short security briefing before starting your hike. Then, discover the bay from a unique point of view: from inside. This hike will allow you to discover the famous shifting sands and unusual views on the Mont Saint Michel and the Rock of Tombelaine, located in the middle of the bay. Follow your passionate guide on this impressive desert and humid stretch of land, home to an important and specific biodiversity. Your guide will explain the tides, fauna and flora, will show you the quicksand safely.

Mont-Saint-Michel
From the pier, you will board your coach for the one-hour drive to the Mont-Saint-Michel. On arrival, you will change your transportation and take a shuttle to reach the village entrance.
Your walking exploration will start at the foot of the island. This jewel of France, according to Victor Hugo 'is to the ocean what the Pyramid of Cheops is to the desert'.
At first, you will discover the Mont surrounded by the bay's fragile and natural setting of fauna and flora. You will continue through the narrow streets of the medieval village and walk up to the Abbey for a guided visit inside the abbey, achievement of passionate builders. Taking its inspiration from a dream, the monastery was founded in the 10th century and today welcomes modern pilgrims following the century-old tradition.
After lunch in a famous local restaurant, enjoy some time at leisure for independent sightseeing and shopping before rejoining your guide to take the shuttle back to the parking.
Finally, you will board you coach for your transfer to Saint Malo and your ship.

Join a public ferry for a transfer up the pretty River Dart, passing stunning scenery all the while. Agatha Christie’s House, Greenway, sits here on the banks of the river in its idyllic setting.
Upon arrival at Kingswear station you will board the steam train. The ride takes you through breathtaking, picturesque scenery through the wooded slopes of Long Wood bordering the Dart Estuary, and along the spectacular English Riviera Geopark coast line to Paignton. You will enjoy a short stop here before returning the same way back to Dartmouth.

Both Paignton and Kingswear stations have level access to the platforms. Ramps are provided for wheelchair access onto the Guards van and the designated wheelchair area for each train in service. The walk from Greenway quay to visitor reception is steep in places along a winding bark chip path through the Greenway woodland. The 750 metres (800 yards) walk takes about 10 minutes and there are plenty of benches for resting or admiring the view on the way. From the pier, you will board your coach and drive to Santiago de Compostela (a one-hour and fifteen-minute drive), one of the most important cities in Europe and the third most important place in the world for Christian pilgrimage.
Your tour will start by the Obradoiro Square where your guide will present you all the details of this square during a walking tour. You can admire the Cathedral, the Town hall, the Pazo (Palace of Saint Jerome) and the Hostal dos Reis Católicos. This former hospital was built in 1501 by orders of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile to welcome unwell pilgrims and replace the old hospital which was then on the current Plaza de la Azabachería. Today it continues to fulfil its function of hosting service to the traveller, although it has a luxurious character. Every day, a dozen pilgrims carrying their compostela (pilgrim certificate) are allowed in the kitchen to graciously receive a meal.
Your guide will give you a complete description of the outside of the Cathedral and will show you the Jubilee Door which is only opened for the pardons of each Jubilee Year.
Then, you will have some time at leisure to walk along the historical streets before meeting your guide at the Hostal dos Reis Católicos, for the lunch served in one of the dining rooms of the hotel.
Before boarding your coach to Vigo, you will enjoy an inside visit of the Cathedral with the tomb of Saint James, maybe the most important piece of the Cathedral, the “Portico da Gloria” whose lintels were laid in place in 1188, one of the capital works of mediaeval sculpture. From the pier, you will board your coach and start your scenic drive towards Monte Castro. Once arriving, you will enjoy a panoramic view on Vigo, its bay and its harbour.
Jules Verne wrote that Captain Nemo’s best kept secret was in Vigo. Did you know that this is where the Nautilus submarine came to stock up on gold? In Vigo’s estuary there are dozens of sunken ships loaded with the gold from the Americas, treasures that have not yet come to light.
Back to coach, you will drive to Baiona, one of the most important and characteristic fishing villages on the Galicia coast.
Here you will visit Parador Monterreal, an imposing 16th-century building that has been converted into a hotel. The fortress of Monterreal is highly evocative of times long past, with its walls (dating from the 11th to 17th centuries) and its mediaeval towers: the Reloxo, the Tenaza and the Príncipe Cativo. The walls are ideal for a pleasant stroll around the area, known as the Monte Boi Promenade, offering perfect views over the whole of Galicia’s southern coastline, and of course the town of Baiona.
Then, you will discover old centre of the village with the remains of its ancient walls. A walk through the historic centre reveals impressive pazos (manor houses), such as that of the Correa family (from the 18th century), now the town hall with a tall tower, coats of arms and beautiful balconies; the Casa Ceta (or Casa do Perdón) from the 14th century; the Casa Mendoza (or Casa do Deán) with arched walkways beneath (from the 18th century) and a superb Baroque façade, or the Casa de Salgado (from the 17th century).
Finally, re-board your coach and start your return drive to Vigo, a 45-minute drive.

From the pier, you will board your coach and drive to your starting point of your hiking on the way of cross, 45-minute drive.
You will walk on the Spanish part of the way of cross borrowed by the pilgrims, to this day, to join Santiago de Compostela.
Santiago de Compostela is one of the most important cities in Europe and the third most important place in the world for Christian pilgrimage.
Once arriving, you will discover the Obradoiro Square where your guide will present you all the details of this square during a walking tour. You can admire the Cathedral, the Town hall, the Pazo (Palace of Saint Jerome) and the Hostal dos Reis Católicos. This former hospital was built in 1501 by orders of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile to welcome unwell pilgrims and replace the old hospital which was then on the current Plaza de la Azabachería. Today it continues to fulfil its function of hosting service to the traveller, although it has a luxurious character. Every day, a dozen pilgrims carrying their compostela (pilgrim certificate) are allowed in the kitchen to graciously receive a meal.
Your guide will give you a complete description of the outside of the Cathedral and will show you the Jubilee Door which is only opened for the pardons of each Jubilee Year.
Then, you will have some time at leisure to walk along the historical streets before meeting your guide at the Hostal dos Reis Católicos, for the lunch served in one of the dining rooms of the hotel.
Continue with an inside visit of the Cathedral with the tomb of Saint James, maybe the most important piece of the Cathedral, the “Portico da Gloria” whose lintels were laid in place in 1188, one of the capital works of mediaeval sculpture. You will also visit the museum of the Cathedral.
Finally, reboard your coach to join your ship, a one-hour and fifteen-minute drive.

From the pier, you will board your coach and start your 1-hour drive to Villagarcia.
Once arriving, you will visit the Pazo de Rubianes. Located in the Arousa estuary (Pontevedra), it is one of the three official lordships in Spain. The main building was constructed in the 15th century. In the 18th century the tower was pulled down, and a summer residence with rectangular plan was created. The gardens, with more than 11 hectares, have remarkable eucalyptus trees with perimeters of 12 meters, olives and magnolias. It has geometrical flowerbeds of French style, with sequoias and camphors. Its grandiose magnolias Magnolia grandiflora L. have been included in the Galician Monumental Tree Catalogue.
With an area of 25 hectares, the vineyard of Pazo de Rubianes is the largest in the region of Salnés. Don Gonzalo Ozores of Urcola - eighteenth Lord of the House of Rubianes and Marqués de Aranda- and his wife, Mrs. Paloma Rey Fernández Latorre, were responsible for the recovery of ancient vineyards and the new vineyard project that took place between the years 1997 and 1999. Don Gonzalo, great lover of his estate, had a great devotion for his vineyards and planned to produce wine on the property again. But he could not fulfil his dream before his death in 2006. His wife, Mrs. Paloma, picked up the baton in order to realise the desire of her husband. In 2009, ten years after the recovery of the vineyards, the first wine of this new winery of Pazo de Rubianes was bottled. Built in the 15th century, the cellar smells now like wine again, and allows to preserve the quality of each vintage. Only slightly less than 30 % of the grapes produced in the vineyards of Pazo de Rubianes are chosen to give rise to these exclusive wines with which each year comes the new crop of Pazo de Rubianes and García Caamaño wines.

From the pier, board your coach and proceed to the famous Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Gehry.
This imposing and unmistakable titanium, granite and glass building reflected in the river houses important works of contemporary art. Designed by American architect Frank Gehry, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao building represents a magnificent example of the most groundbreaking 20th-century architecture. With 24,000 m2, of which 11,000 are dedicated to exhibition space, the museum represents an architectural landmark of audacious configuration and innovating design, providing a seductive backdrop for the art exhibited in it. Altogether, Gehry's design creates a spectacular sculpture-like structure, perfectly integrated within Bilbao's urban pattern and its surrounding area. It was built between 1993 and 1997 representing the recovery of the banks of the river, redeveloping them for culture and leisure. The finish of the approximately 33,000 extremely thin titanium sheets provides a rough and organic effect, adding to the material's colour changes depending on the weather and light conditions. The other two materials used in the building, limestone and glass, harmonise perfectly, achieving an architectural design with a great visual impact that has now become a real icon of the city throughout the world.
Your tour will continue with a stroll around the old town with its handsome Renaissance, Baroque and Modernist buildings, where you will have the chance to admire the façade of the Cathedral of Santiago, example of Gothic architecture, and the elegant Plaza Nueva, with its distinctive porticoes.

Discover the Cantabrian corniche, the fishing port of Bermeo and historic Guernica. From the pier, travel along the colorful Biscayan coastline and see the dramatic views of the Cantabrian corniche.
You will first visit Guernica, once the capital of the Basque Country. The local lords and kings met here in democratic assembly to promise to respect the special laws of Vizcaya. On 26th April 1937, during the Spanish Civil War, the town was razed to the ground by German aircraft, sent by Hitler to support Franco's troops. Discover the Picasso’s Guernika mural reproduction, illustrating the bombing and showing the tragedy of war.
During your visit, see also the petrified trunk of an oak tree that miraculously survived the horrific bombing raid. In the Park of Europe are the famous sculptures, symbolising Gernika-Lumo as a city of peace. See from outside the Casa de Juntas, where the Basque parliament has convened since 1979.
Continue to Bermeo, one of the area's most important fishing ports in the region. This colourful, working town has a large deep-sea fishing fleet that regularly operates off the coast of the Azores and southern Africa. See the popular Basque style architecture reflected in the fishermen's houses.

From the pier, board your local coach, drive West of Bordeaux and cross the Landes de Gascogne forest before arriving in the Arcachon Bay region, a resort famous for its weather and oyster culture. A fragrant oasis surrounded by an immense forest of pine trees; a subdued ocean which nestles up against the wild sand-dunes; a long wreath of fine golden sand. This is Arcachon Bay with clean waters constantly renewed by the tide, and flights of thousand of migratory birds.
Here you will stop in Le Pyla to climb the highest sand dune in Europe with 110 metres height. A wooden stairs allows an easier climbing of the first half. From the top, you will discover a fantastic view over the entire Arcachon Bay in the North, over the Ocean in the West, and over the never ending Landes pine tree forest in the East.

Saint Emilion village & Château Soutard
There can be no better place to start a visit to this attractive region than UNESCO World Heritage Classified Saint Emilion region and village, heartland of the Merlot grape, which produces delicious, rich, round wines.
The vines on the "hill with a thousand châteaux", reach right up to Saint Emilion's 13th century town walls and surrounding moat dug out of solid rock. Members of the local wine brotherhood, the Jurats, proclaim the vintage banns in much the same way as their ancestors did during the reign of Richard the Lion heart.
You will visit the main monuments of the town: the Collegial church and its magnificent cloister from the 12th century, the ramparts (12th), the marketplace. Strolling in the streets, you will also see the Cadene gate and the King's Tower. You will then have some time at leisure for shopping.

The island of Oléron has an area of 175 sq km, making it the largest of the French islands on the Atlantic coast. It has been a popular holiday destination with the development of thalassotherapy on the island during the second half of the 19th Century.
From the pier, board your local coach and drive to Oléron Island, enjoying views of the Charente coastline and its wetland marshes. While crossing Oléron bridge, enjoy a panoramic view of the Citadel of Château d’Oléron, a Vauban military fortification. Then, drive along the “Oyster Road” situated between Le Château d’Oléron and Boyardville.
This small coastal road, signposted “Route des Huîtres", winds between channels, colourful oyster huts and "claires”. Visit the oyster farming site of Fort Royer and enjoy a local seafood tasting, as well as other various sweet products. The Fort Royer nature site and oyster farm on the south coast of Boyardville stretches over a zone of 10 hectares, and it’s notable for its flora, wildlife and the beauty of its landscapes, especially the extraordinary views over the Ile d’Aix and the Charente straits. A living example of traditional oyster culture, the site includes a village of around 40 huts, a third of which are still in use.
After a short transfer, enjoy some free time to explore La Cotinière on your own, as it is one of the prettiest fishing ports of the Atlantic Coast. La Cotinière is the 11th largest French fishing port and the largest in Charente Maritime. There, you might have the chance to catch sight of some of the colourful trawlers, escorted by swarms of seagulls.

Allow yourself to be tempted by a captivating walk in the calm and peaceful Morbihan, with the discovery of the village of Saint-Cado, a small islet full of charm at the heart of the Etel River, also known as the Ria d’Etel.
The island, which is only accessible on foot and connected by a bridge, will reveal itself along the peaceful waters of the Ria d’Etel. A unique atmosphere reigns on this small piece of land, which has around twenty fishermen’s houses and a magnificent 12th-century Romanesque chapel. There is a path you can walk all the way around the island, taking in sublime points of view over the river and the Breton landscapes. Above all, you will be able to admire one of the reasons behind Saint-Cado’s renown: the famous little house with the blue shutters. Standing as if it were placed on the water, this residence, only accessible by foot at low tide, is a delight for photographers and painters.

From the pier, board your local coach for a 1-hour drive to Plouézoc’h and its famous Barnenez cairn.
Upon arrival, follow your guide for a fascinating visit of the spectacular site of Barnenez cairn overlooking the sea. Built in the Neolithic period (4500 to 3500 BC), the tumulus (man-made earth mound) has been rediscovered in 1955 when it was used as a quarry. From 1955 to 1968 exavation and consolidation work was carried out and this enormous mound of stones regained its original appearance. Then, reboard your local coach for a short drive to Morlaix, a little town nestling in the hollow of a spectacular estuary among the foot-hills of the “Monts d'Arrée”. Enjoy a guided visit of the town and stroll around the "venelles" (little streets). Morlaix is is the only place to host the so-called ‘maisons à pondalez’ (overhanging houses), nestling among the other historic buildings. Constructed in the 16th century by linen merchants, these houses were built on three storeys around a monumental fireplace, a winding central staircase and wooden indoor walkways named ‘ponts d’allée’ – a derivation of the Breton term ‘pondalez’. Their half-timbered, overlapping storeys tower over the narrow streets leading off Place Allende, guiding you through the Breton Renaissance.

From the pier, embark you local coach for your scenic drive to Saint Vougay.
Upon arrival, follow your guide for a visit of Kerjean Castle, one of the finest Renaissance buildings in Brittany. Built in the second part of the 16th century, the castle also has a park covering a total area of around 25 acres, completed with a Renaissance fountain and dovecote. Pass the impressive ramparts of the castle, enter the main courtyard and enjoy views of the beautiful abode, the chapel and the castle arches. The volutes, pilasters and small columns on the facade of the structure highlight this castle’s original style, inspired by famous Renaissance models.
Following your journey back to Renaissance times, discover the castle’s collection of locally-made furniture, recalling in an accurate manner, the way of living of one of the "wildest area" of Brittany. You will have time to stroll in the park among Renaissance fountains, to discover the dovecote and the pillory, before getting back to your coach.

Depart from pier and enjoy a walking guided visit of Saint-Malo leading to the Asfeld Hotel.
As you stroll around the quaint narrow streets, your knowledgeable guide points out sites of historical interest. View the castle, part of the ramparts protecting the town, the town's typical streets, the house of Duchess Ann, and the cathedral. Also, get acquainted with the more famous personalities of Saint-Malo, such as Jacques Cartier, Duguay-Trouin, Surcouf, and the well-known romantic writer Chateaubriand. Enter the Asfeld Hotel for a visit of this former Privateer's house, followed by a cider tasting. This Manor house has been built by François-Auguste Magon de La Lande, privateer and merchant. He was one of the most powerful ship-owner in the heyday of Saint-Malo and a director of the French East Indies Company. Built in 1725, the house is listed as a Historic Monument (interior and exterior) so as to protect its authenticity and guarantee that the restoration respects historical accuracy.
Here you will enjoy a glass of cider before walking back to pier and your awaiting ship.

From the pier, board your coach and start your 30-minute drive to Cancale.
Picturesque fishing village, Cancale is renowned for its “bancs d’huîtres” (oyster’s beds). The gardeners of the sea work from the parks to the farms thousands of oysters up to the time they are ready to please the gourmet.
En-route, you will discover an oyster farm. During your guided visit of the “Ferme Marine”, you will learn more about the work of the oyster farmer and the workshop (tanks, washing, conditioning). Normally, you will have the opportunity to see the farmer during her/his working day.
Following your visit, you will enjoy an oyster tasting accompanied with a glass of wine.
Then, you will drive to Cancale fishing port to enjoy a walking guided tour along “La Houle” and historical seamen neighborhood before having some free time to explore by yourself.
After, your tour will continue to La Pointe du Grouin nature reserve. At the Northern end of the department, in the commune of Cancale, the “Pointe du Grouin” houses the most important coastal bird nesting site of Ille-et-Vilaine.
Dominated by a semaphore built in 1861, the Pointe du Grouin offers a panoramic view of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and the coast of the Channel to the east, and a succession of handles and points to Cap Fréhel to the west.

From the pier, board your local coach and join directly the Mont Saint Michel which “is to the ocean what the Pyramid of Cheops is to the desert” as Victor Hugo put it.
Upon arrival, your guide will give you a short security briefing before starting your hike. Then, discover the bay from a unique point of view: from inside. This hike will allow you to discover the famous shifting sands and unusual views on the Mont Saint Michel and the Rock of Tombelaine, located in the middle of the bay. Follow your passionate guide on this impressive desert and humid stretch of land, home to an important and specific biodiversity. Your guide will explain the tides, fauna and flora, will show you the quicksand safely.
After this unique experience head back to your ship.

We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring neoprene shoes to walk on the sand and a towel from the ship to dry your feet afterwards. It is also possible to walk barefoot in the bay. Mont-Saint-Michel
From the pier, you will board your coach for the one-hour drive to the Mont-Saint-Michel. On arrival, you will change your transportation and take a shuttle to reach the village entrance.
Your walking exploration will start at the foot of the island. This jewel of France, according to Victor Hugo 'is to the ocean what the Pyramid of Cheops is to the desert'.
At first, you will discover the Mont surrounded by the bay's fragile and natural setting of fauna and flora. You will continue through the narrow streets of the medieval village and walk up to the Abbey for a guided visit inside the abbey, achievement of passionate builders. Taking its inspiration from a dream, the monastery was founded in the 10th century and today welcomes modern pilgrims following the century-old tradition.
After lunch in a famous local restaurant, enjoy some time at leisure for independent sightseeing and shopping before rejoining your guide to take the shuttle back to the parking.
Finally, you will board you coach for your transfer to Saint Malo and your ship.

The North coast of Guernsey offers the walkers a perfect playground with a long beautiful shoreline. After a short transfer to L'Ancresse Bay, start your beautiful walk with its sandy beach and clear turquoise waters and follow the coast passing Fort Le Marchant and Fort Doyle. A short detour inland brings you to one of the most fascinating prehistoric sites in the Island; Le Dehus Burial Chamber, a prehistoric passage grave.
Back on the coast, you come to a tiny harbour which overlooks the neighbouring islands and the remains of an impressive castle, Vale Castle. Your local coach awaits there.

Join a public ferry for a transfer up the pretty River Dart, passing stunning scenery all the while. Agatha Christie’s House, Greenway, sits here on the banks of the river in its idyllic setting.
Upon arrival at Kingswear station you will board the steam train. The ride takes you through breathtaking, picturesque scenery through the wooded slopes of Long Wood bordering the Dart Estuary, and along the spectacular English Riviera Geopark coast line to Paignton. You will enjoy a short stop here before returning the same way back to Dartmouth.

The walk from Greenway quay to visitor reception is steep in places along a winding bark chip path through the Greenway woodland. The 750 metres (800 yards) walk takes about 10 minutes and there are plenty of benches for resting or admiring the view on the way. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility due to the steep hill and getting on and off the boats. Walking in the gardens is at guest's discretion.
