    • Ref : Y021020

In partnership with The Paris Opera Ballet

One of the world’s greatest classical ballet companies, the Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris, will be aboard Le Lyrial for this exceptional cruise around the Italian Peninsula. In the company of some of the troupe’s dancers and of Aurélie Dupont, former prima ballerina and now Director of Dance, discover the must-see cities of the Adriatic and Italy during this all-new 8-day cruise with dance as its central theme.

Your trip will be punctuated by solo performances, pas de deux and highlights of the most beautiful classical, romantic and contemporary ballets, as well as screenings of shows, encounters and interviews.

You will first stop in Hvar, the most famous and attractive of the Adriatic islands. Ringed by ramparts, the town has many remarkable monuments including its elegant cathedral, old arsenal and aristocratic palaces.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dubrovnik will charm you with its palaces, elegant buildings, cloisters and fountains. Located in Croatia's deep south, the Pearl of the Adriatic is a true gem.

Le Lyrial will then set sail for Parga, a charming little town nesting in the heart of an isolated bay. Its colourful houses, built on the hillside, enjoy a superb view over the Ionian Sea and overlook beaches of great beauty.

You will also visit Amalfi and its coast, which are magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Perched between sky and sea, Amalfi and the little villages hidden nearby present amazing landscapes.

    LE LYRIAL

Fourth ship in this superb series loyal to the PONANT spirit, Le Lyrial like her sisterships embodies the subtle alliance between luxury, intimacy and wellbeing which is PONANT’s signature. The elegance of her exterior and interior lines and her intimate size (only 122 staterooms and suites) make this a rare and innovative yacht on the cruise market.

    Interior Design
We have been inspired by the destinations we visit and decided to create a subtle variation around a palette of blues. Ranging from the luminous delicate grey-blue of the Polar ice to splashes of the vivid turquoise blue found in Mediterranean coves, it also includes the blue light of the future pole star.

    Port of call & excursions

    2 October 2020 – Hvar

    Venice

    Embarkation 02/10/2020 from 14H00 to 16H00 . Departure 02/10/2020 at 18H00 .

Proud and eternal, Venice has reigned on its lagoon ever since the 6th century. You may think you know this city before even setting foot here. You will inevitably fall in love with the charm of the innumerable treasures of the Serenissima: Saint Mark’s square, the basilica, Doges palace, the Grand Canal and the gondolas. Yet, secret Venice is also waiting for you to explore its little interlacing streets and canals, to ramble through its squares and to push open the doors of its churches. The city’s extraordinary heritage shouldn’t stop you from enjoying a glass of Spritz and a few tramezzini.

    3 October 2020 – Hvar

    3 October 2020 – Hvar

Arrival 03/10/2020 midday. Departure 03/10/2020 early evening.

Off the coast of Split, Hvar will surprise you by its traditions that haven’t changed since Antiquity. The country’s oldest town, Stari Grad, is here on this Dalmatian Island. The town nestles by a cove on the north-west coast, surrounded by dry stone wall structures on the Stari Grad plains. These have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site because they were built in the time of the Ancient Greeks.  From these parcels of land come wines and olive oil manufactured manually. In the upper part of town, you will discover hams and cheeses made by local producers. The picturesque village of Vrisnik is a good place to try some of local produce.

    4 October 2020 – Dubrovnik

    4 October 2020 – Dubrovnik

Arrival 04/10/2020 early morning. Departure 04/10/2020 late afternoon.

Emblem of the Dalmatian coast, Dubrovnik is magnificently positioned on a rocky spur. History is sovereign here, in this ancient city, now a listed UNESCO World Heritage site. You will perhaps be surprised by the proportions of La Placa, the central drag through the city. The sheer width of it can be explained by the fact that it straddles a former lagoon. The elegant houses along La Placa are built in the legendary travertine stone. At Pile gate, you will be greeted by the statue of the patron saint of Dubrovnik, and you can admire the coastline as you walk along the ramparts. But what’s inside Fort Saint John, adjoining the outer walls? A maritime museum and an aquarium featuring rare fish from the Adriatic.

    5 October 2020▸6 October 2020 – Parga

    5 October 2020▸6 October 2020 – Parga

Arrival 05/10/2020 evening. Departure 06/10/2020 late afternoon.

An ancient port in the Epirus region, picturesque Parga is located on the western coast of the Greek mainland. Ancient classical ruins and the Venetian citadel bear witness to the town's colourful history and the diverse influences that shaped it. In a swoon of orange flower and lemon blossom scents, you can walk up steep streets lined with houses generously bedecked with flowers on your way to Ali Pasha castle. Here, youメll be rewarded by splendid views of the old fishing village and wild neighbouring creeks.

    7 October 2020 – Reggio di Calabria

    7 October 2020 – Reggio di Calabria

Arrival 07/10/2020 midday. Departure 07/10/2020 late afternoon.

At the southern tip of the Italian boot, Reggio de Calabre guards the eastern shore of the Strait of Messina. From the lungomare, the sea front promenade, there are magnificent views over Sicily, a little over 3 km away, and Etna. Rebuilt after the 1908 earthquake, Reggio is set out in a grid pattern and has Art Nouveau and Belle Époque architecture that add to its charm. And the fragrance of bergamot, the citrus fruit that dominates the region’s confectionery and perfumery. A visit to the National Archaeological Museum is a must. It is one of the most important in Italy and among its collections are the famous Riacce Bronzes, the stunning Greek statues dating from the 5th century BC that were found off the coast in 1972.

    8 October 2020 – Amalfi

    8 October 2020 – Amalfi

Arrival 08/10/2020 early morning. Departure 08/10/2020 late afternoon.

The little town of Campania gives its name to the region containing the magnificent, UNESCO World Heritage listed, Amalfi coast. And for good reason. Located at the foot of Mount Cerreto, against a rock face of a gorge that opens onto the sea, Amalfi’s absolutely splendid natural scenery alone is enough to feast your eyes on before making for the medieval streets to explore some of its history. The mix of cultural influences from the Mediterranean Rim is omnipresent here. Don’t miss the dome of Saint André the Apostle and its beautiful cloister, before sipping a delicious lemon juice made from locally grown lemons at a terrace bar.

    9 October 2020▸8 October 2020 – Civitavecchia (Roma)

    Civitavecchia (Rome)

    Disembarkation 09/10/2020 at 07H30 .

Built on an Etruscan site, between the Tyrrhenian sea and the Monti della Tolfa, Civitavecchia respires the dolce vita. This very modern and easy going town combines art and history with panache. You can also visit superb historical sites like Fort Michelangelo or the Cathedral of Saint Francis of Assisi. Just 80 kilometres from Rome, the town is a beautiful first step to the Italian capital.
