Lisbon
Embarkation 11/10/2018 from 16H00 to 17H00 . Departure 11/10/2018 at 20H00 .Portugal’s capital city located on the banks of the Tagus, only a few kilometres from the Atlantic coast, is a city of exceptionally rich cultural diversity. At the mouth of the river harbour, impose two UNESCO World Heritage monuments, Jeronimos monastery and Belem tower. The Alfama hillside is also worth visiting: known for its fado bars and its Moorish streets, this district is the oldest one of the city and one of the most typical. Not far from there, Chiado’s elegant streets are home to big fashion labels and are an invitation to a bit of of luxury shopping.

Arrival 12/10/2018 late afternoon. Departure 12/10/2018.Andalusia’s Cadiz is located on the Costa de la Luz, in the south-west of Spain. From the beaches of Cortadura, to the flamenco bars of Santa Maria, through the colourful streets of la Viña, you will be amazed by this city, which is both steeped in history and extremely festive. In the medieval El Pópulo district, you will stroll along covered passages in the narrow gaps between houses. You will also be able to mosey around the lush Mina square. The star of the show is the magnificent cathedral and its dome crowned with yellow porcelain, presiding above the Ocean.

Between the marina and the beaches, the seaside promenade of La Farola offers an ideal setting for strolling and relaxing. Set slightly further back, the Malagueta bullring is one of the emblematic sites of the city. From the hill overlooking the old town, one can see Gibralfaro castle and the Alcazaba, two fortified ensembles rising out from the cypresses and maritime pines. To visit Pablo Picasso’s birthplace, you will go first to the courtly plaza de la Merced. A few streets back from here, you can explore the museum dedicated to the artist, in the Buenavista palace.

18 October 2018 – At sea
Arrival 18/10/2018. Departure 18/10/2018.During your day at sea, make the most of the many services and activities on board. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the spa or stay in shape in the fitness centre. Depending on the season, let yourself be tempted by the swimming pool or a spot of sunbathing. This day without a port of call will also be an opportunity to enjoy the conferences or shows proposed on board, to do some shopping in the boutique or to meet the PONANT photographers in their dedicated space. As for lovers of the open sea, they will be able to visit the ship’s upper deck to admire the spectacle of the waves and perhaps be lucky enough to observe marine species. A truly enchanted interlude, combining comfort, rest and entertainment.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands
Disembarkation 19/10/2018 at 07H00 .The capital city of Tenerife is located on the north-east coast of the island. Close to the port is the monumental Plaza de España, bedecked with a fountain and plant sculptures. Around the plaza, you can admire the white marble Triunfo de la Candelaria obelisk, the historic casino of Santa Cruz and the majestic Guimerà theatre. Not far from here, the picturesque Iglesia de la Concepción church features the characteristic traits of Canaries architecture.
Formalities

Passport valid for at least six (6) months beyond the completion of your trip. Passport must contain at least two completely clear, blank, unused visa pages for each visa required, not including any amendment pages. Visa pages with stains or ink from other pages in the passport are not usable. Guests who deviate from the scheduled embarkation or disembarkation port should research the foreign entry requirements for the port country. Due to government regulations, regrettably, Ponant will have to deny boarding to any guest who fails to obtain the appropriate travel documentation for this trip.
Warning about the use of drones: the use of drones aboard PONANT ships, whether they are sailing at sea, at a port of call or anchored, is strictly forbidden. The use of drones on land in the Arctic and Antarctic regions is also strictly forbidden by international polar regulations. In other regions, it may be possible to use drones on land if permission has been obtained from the relevant authorities of each country and each region travelled through, as well as a pilot’s licence that should be obtained from your home country. Passengers are responsible for obtaining these permits; they should be able to present them at all times. Passengers who do not obtain these authorisations expose themselves to the risk of legal proceedings.

Patrick de Carolis
Writer and journalist Patrick de Carolis is a member of the Institut de France (Académie des Beaux-Arts) and heads the Marmottan Monet Museum which houses the world’s first collection of works by Claude Monet and Berthe Morisot. Former Chairman of France Télévisions and creator of the French programmes Reporters, Nomades, Zone Interdite, Des Racines et des Ailes and Le Grand Tour, he received a lifetime achievement award for his work in TV at the Lauriers de la Télévision.
At the same time, Patrick de Carolis had responsibilities in the written media as Managing Director of Figaro Magazine from 2001 to 2004. Indeed, writing has played a key role in his career. After Conversation in 2001, a collection of interviews with Bernadette Chirac, he published Les Demoiselles de Provence in 2005; in 2009 a book of poems Refuge pour temps d’orage, brought to the theatre by Bérengère Dautun; in 2011, La dame du Palatin, a historic novel in which he brings to life the wife of Roman philosopher Seneca; and in November 2014 Letizia R. Bonaparte, la mère de toutes les douleurs in which he explores the extraordinary destiny of Napoleon’s mother. His latest work, Les ailes intérieures, is an essay on the world of television and its cultural role in society.
Passionate about live performance, Patrick de Carolis was the man behind Les Éclectiques de Rocamadour, a festival which from 2001 to 2010 brought great music, dance and theatre performers together every year.
