Set sail with PONANT in the footsteps of ancient civilisations with a 10-day cruise aboard our three-mast yacht, Le Ponant. This brand-new itinerary combines cultural discoveries and archaeological marvels and will take you from Jordan to Turkey via Egypt and Israel.

After you join the ship at Aqaba, Le Ponant will make a brief incursion into the warm waters of the Red Sea before sailing to the other side of the Sinai Peninsula and reaching Egypt for four days that will undoubtedly form the highpoint of your cruise.

Ain Sokhna will be your first port of call and is the ideal starting point for the marvels of the Egypt of the Pharaohs, and the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

You will then sail through the legendary Suez Canal and visit Alexandria, the multicultural city that was once home to the famous library destroyed by fire.

From Haifa, do not miss the visit to Nazareth and its many churches commemorating the memory of Jesus Christ, who grew up in this Israeli village.

You will disembark in Antalya. With its Roman port, picturesque narrow streets and beautiful Ottoman homes this town, lying on the southern coast of Turkey, has maintained its many charms.

The library aimed to be a storehouse of universal knowledge, while the lighthouse was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Both are now destroyed. Alexandria is also the place where began the legendary love story between Mark Antony and Cleopatra. For centuries, this city was one of the greatest cultural centres in the Mediterranean and its landmarks now provide a fascinating glimpse into its proud past.
