In partnership with Ducasse Paris, Château Latour and Le Point. With the exceptional presence on board of Jocelyn Herland and Cédric Grolet, chefs of the Meurice restaurant.

From Lisbon to Lorient, PONANT invites you to join an exceptional gastronomic and oenological cruise in partnership with Ducasse Paris and Château Latour.

From the port of Leixões, you will first visit Porto. Capital of the northern region of Portugal, this “city of granite”, the centre of which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its wine.

You will then chart a course for Bilbao, not far from the La Rioja winemaking region, whose reputation goes before it.

Two days in Bordeaux, the wine capital of the world, will follow. You will be captivated by its rich wine-making tradition and have the opportunity to visit the Cité du Vin, the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, and other châteaux.

    L'AUSTRAL

In May 2011, l'Austral joined PONANT's fleet. This superb mega-yacht with 132 staterooms is the result of the expertise of the Italian Fincantieri shipyard and French sophistication, as interpreted by designer Jean-Philippe Nuel. L'Austral remains faithful to our philosophy - to create a unique atmosphere, a subtle blend of luxury, intimacy and well-being.

A sleek silhouette softened by elegantly smooth contours and large, arched windows opening up to the sea and the light: so many features come together to give L’Austral her distinctive shape. Precious materials, discreet elegance and a perfect balance between chic and casual, combine to make you feel as if you are on your own private yacht. A design blending tradition and innovation, where a nautical mood has been subtly recreated. A welcoming atmosphere of relaxed sophistication revolves around shades of grey, taupe, white and ivory enlivened by touches of cinnamon, caramel and tan.. So many personal touches create the spirit of a “private yacht.”

You will encounter unique itineraries, calls inaccessible to large ships, chic and elegant yacht-like ambiance, refined and personalized service as well as gastronomic cuisine.

    Eric Beaumard

    Eric Beaumard

Manager of Le Cinq, the Michelin-starred restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris, Éric Beaumard is also one of the best sommeliers in the world. Voted Best Sommelier in France in 1992, Best Sommelier in Europe with the Ruinard Trophy in 1994 and Sommelier of the Year by the magazine Le Chef in 2003, he also held the title of Vice-Champion of the World in the Best Sommelier contest in 1998. In April 2018, he was awarded French Légion d’honneur by M. François Pinault.

Éric Beaumard has been very involved in purchasing wine for the hotel since its opening: every month he visits a vineyard in France or Europe. He is extremely knowledgeable and is widely recognised by a Parisian clientele that is both French and international. He loves to share his passion for wine and is never at a loss when it comes to giving wise advice on the best vintage to accompany a dish.

However, he was by no means predestined for this successful sommelier career. As a student he thought of becoming a cook, until a motorbike accident left him temporarily without the use of his right arm. After his recovery he worked as a chef for six months at the Maisons de Bricourt in Cancale, before turning to wine and the sommelier profession on the advice of Chef Olivier Roellinger. A new passion and a new talent were born.

It was the start of a collaboration that would last ten years at the head of the Espace Hérault in Paris, a regional firm dedicated to promoting the culture, gastronomy and wines of Languedoc.

Olivier Bompas then became a sommelier and joined the Paris association of sommeliers, expanding his knowledge alongside renowned names like Philippe Faure-Brac and Olivier Poussier.

In 2000, he returned to live and work in Languedoc as a sommelier consultant for the course at the University of Wine in Suze-la-Rousse, among other clients, and was president of the region’s sommelier association from 2011 to 2015.

At the same time as his job as a sommelier, he worked alongside journalist Jacques Dupont, first for the Gault-Millau magazine and since 1999 for the weekly Le Point magazine. He is also author of numerous books including a dictionary of wine-dish pairings, Le petit dictionnaire Hachette des accords mets et vins.

Today he writes the wine section of Le Point with Jacques Dupont.
