Set sail for a cruise to the heart of the Japan, a blend of modernity and tradition.
From Osaka to Maizuru via romantic Kyoto, during your cruise Japan will open its doors to you and lift the veil on its imperial past, where the history of the Samurais rubs shoulders with the delicateness of Geishas.

When L’Austral calls there, do not miss the opportunity of making an exceptional visit to Pusan, South Korea’s second city, a blend of modernity and sophistication. Warm and welcoming, this city of contrasts offers a spectacular view over the port as well as the old quarter of Chalgachi, which has maintained its very picturesque character.

Fall for the indisputable charm of Kagoshima, dominated by the majestic silhouette of the Sakurajima volcano, which has become the symbol of the city. Come and see its undiminished power during a walk along the Arimura.

You will be comfortable ensconced on the outer decks of L'Austral when you get your first glimpse of the skyline of Okayama, an ancient 16th seigniorial city. Do not miss the famous Korakuen Gardens, one of the three essential landscape gardens of Japan.

From Sakaiminato, discover medieval Japan and its former Samurai homes.

You will end your cruise with the discovery of the most Japanese of metropolis, Osaka, a modern, industrial and cultural city that is entirely turned towards the future. “Mokari makka?” - “How is business?”. This is how the inhabitants greet each other in this city, which has been the national centre for trade and industry since the reign of Emperor Nintoku.

In May 2011, l'Austral joined PONANT's fleet. This superb mega-yacht with 132 cabins is the result of the expertise of the Italian Fincantieri shipyard and French sophistication, as interpreted by designer Jean-Philippe Nuel. L'Austral remains faithful to our philosophy - to create a unique atmosphere, a subtle blend of luxury, intimacy and well-being.
A sleek silhouette softened by elegantly smooth contours and large, arched windows opening up to the sea and the light: so many features come together to give L’Austral her distinctive shape. Precious materials, discreet elegance and a perfect balance between chic and casual, combine to make you feel as if you are on your own private yacht. A design blending tradition and innovation, where a nautical mood has been subtly recreated. A welcoming atmosphere of relaxed sophistication revolves around shades of grey, taupe, white and ivory enlivened by touches of cinnamon, caramel and tan.. So many personal touches create the spirit of a “private yacht.”
You will encounter unique itineraries, calls inaccessible to large ships, chic and elegant yacht-like ambiance, refined and personalized service as well as gastronomic cuisine.
